I've never dated an American guy before... So, I'd like to know what are the differences between dating a European Man vs. an American Man?
- 1.1K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yI dated one, when I was 22. Right before and around the same time when I met my ex fiancé.
He was blond, blue eyed, was into working out and was a writer. I don’t remember exactly which state he was from.
He was messing around, sleeping with almost all the girls around him, until he met me. We met at the party of a mutual friend and when he liked me, my friend told him, he would have to be slow and understanding to me cause I was a virgin and wouldn’t sleep with him. And he told our friend that he seriously liked me and wouldn’t rush me into anything.
He was fine, but I could tell he was acting like a nice guy and actually wasn’t. He had slept with numerous women, dated numerous women and I felt like it wasn’t fair for us to get together, as I deserved someone for whom I would be a first woman too. He was always with girls around him, I could tell lots of these girls liked him. Everybody jumped on his lap and he was quite narcissistic. I liked the part that he was attractive but disliked that he was narcissistic.
His narcissism always made me feel careful about him. I stopped dating him when I met my ex fiancé.
He understood.
I have some nice memories with him though.
It’s been 4 years. He’s getting married soon.
***
I have dated European men as well and they were much more humble and much less narcissistic even though they were quite attractive too.
I am sure everyone is different but that one American I dated was a narcissistic and had a too high of a thought of himself.
037 Reply- +1 y
Also, even though that American man I dated was quite educated, the European men I’ve dated were much more classy along with being educated.
- +1 y
Why date him if you knew you weren’t going to ever sleep with him because you were a virgin? He couldn’t unsleep with all the women he’d been with.
Are you European? Wherever you are from, I’m getting more and more disillusioned with the “educated” people in the world.
If you’re going to knock us, fine. But make sure you back up what you say. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust WHY are you harassing everyone on this post? Are you that must of an inferior little ant.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer Hi pot, I’m kettle.

@CuriousInquirer And if you delete my posts, you delete the evidence. Quite the conundrum you put yourself in.

- +1 y
@love_conquers_lust Where did I lie? I can't delete your posts here, as said, dope. As for your posts I DID delete and which I do NOT deny doing - you were contributing nothing of value, just pointless blubbering. Like here.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer You fucking liar, I swear to god. THIS IS WHY GUYS ON HERE WILL FUCKING CRITICIZE YOUR FUCKING GENDER. RIGHT FUCKING HERE.
You just called my life pointless blubbering. I hate you, so much. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust Where am I lying? Hmmm. Kindly state the exact place.
And where did I call your life pointless blubbering. Kindly state the exact place. - +1 y
@CuriousInquirer. THAT WAS MY FUCKING LIFE I WAS TALKING ABOUT THAT YOU REPORTED. YOU CALLED IT POINTLESS BLUBBERING. I fucking hate you, you fucking liar. Hate you, so much. God I hate you.
- +1 y
@love_conquers_lust If a rambling makes no sense message to a complete stranger is "your life" then you most certainly need psychological help.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer You gaslighting fucking LIAR. That was for other people so they know what the FUCK IS ACTUALLY GOING ON. You call my life pointless blubbering. You fucking call it into question implying you didn’t. Now you say I need psychological help. I can’t stand you. I really can’t. Fucking, hate you.
You’re a bad person. - +1 y
@CuriousInquirer I called you a liar in two completely different posts, too. Because you keep acting like this. Now your profile is set to private. You fucking liar. Fucking hate you. You made a god damn mistake. And you won’t make amends. I hate you.
- +1 y
@love_conquers_lust. Thank you for admitting you have been stalking my profile & harassing me, now I can report you to GAG and get you banned.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer You lied. You're not in the right and you won't ever be in the right on this issue
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer I will continue to call you a liar everytime I see you. It is not right for people like you to get away with what you did.
- +1 y
@love_conquers_lust WHAT did I do? Hmmm... And where did I lie? Hmmm... You act like a 5 year old saying "hate you" when I did nothing to you.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer
"I'm going to be deleting your comments & blocking you, because your comments are absolutely disgustingly degrading for no reason whatsoever. And they have no value whatsoever to my post. Were you deprived attention as a child or something?"-no indication of compartmentalization
"What are you talking about troll? Drunk or something. I can't delete your posts on someone else's topic"-You did it and you won't admit it. Have you considered they might have a record of everything you report traced to your name?
"I said I can't delete on LaFemme's post. Not mine. I wasn't lying, you're just too simple to comprehend what is being said."-Continue to "elablorate" and lie some more
The whole time, you are insulting me.
Then you called my life pointless blubbering. Because you tried to fucking tell me what my life was. Invalidated it. Fuck you.
You are a bad person and a liar. Put what I posted back up. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust Uh-huh. You mean the offensive demeaning comments as proven by your deranged conduct? Nope.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer I want you to list them out, one by one.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer Stop arguing with a supposed crazy person if you believe it to be true. But you continue to insult with your own fucking demeaning and offensive comments you hypocritical liar.
I really can't stand you. You're antagonizing and lying trying to fish for justification for your absolutely horrid behavior. Even if you get a reaction, no one will rule in your favor because they can read this. There is no recourse for you. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust ROFL. I am not arguing. I find you amusing. And what horrid behaviour? You were demeaning women for no reason whatsoever you pathetic fat little troll.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer On my post you removed. List, the demeaning behavior. Do it. You made the claim, prove it. Or, keep cementing your reputation as a liar.
- +1 y
@love_conquers_lust You were saying, like that Dave who was going on about American women to a European, that American women are good for little, etc. and generally demeaning. I kept his posts cause I'm waiting for the ball less wonder to come on after he's been told his behavior was disgusting.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer That was Dave. What the fuck does that have to do with me? You deleted any evidence so how can anyone believe you? Do you not see how dumb it is to delete comments? Furthermore, HIS comments are still up. So why the fuck did you target me? Why are you still focused on me? Deleting his comments at this point doesn't matter. For good measure, there are now 6 comments of his up, so if they "magically" disappear, we'll know why won't we.
You are not talking about what I experienced at my jobs and what happened with my ailment. Instead, you called it demeaning. You're such a bad fucking person. You didn't even read it, did you. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust "You are not talking about what I experienced at my jobs and what happened with my ailment. " WHAT happened at your job & your aliment because you NEVER mentioned anything about it. You were AGREEING with Dave about what he was saying in a demeaning fashion.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer Oh my god, you genuinely didn't read it. Then when I elaborated with a summary, you deleted that too.
How the fuck is leaving a job because of how I was treated as a damn coworker, NOT a manager, because women and minorities (racially and nationally) were underpaid and overworked and projected onto me fucking demeaning coming from me? How? Like if a woman stole from another woman, would you fucking dismiss the case as a judge because you couldn't stand to hear it because it was "demeaning"?
I don't even remember explicitly what you are talking about with "AGREEING" with Dave because you deleted the fucking comments. You could make up whatever story you want.
Whatever. You don't want to hear it. You didn't even read it. So I have no fucking idea how you are going to navigate society if you can't discern truths. You're walking into a dark world made for yourself by you.
God dammnit. I made insensitive, though truthful, comments to another user and I believe I caused her to delete here account because of it. I was mad because of you, I didn't lie like you. I'd much rather be talking to her than you. God damn you.

+1 yEuropeans:
- More familiar with women's health (European men know about periods and general Europeans know more about sex than Americans do thanks to US censorship)
- Often multilingual
- Often will have travelled
- Educated, typically
- Most European cultures are less blatantly sexist than American culture
Americans- Clueless about health and bodies (no sex ed or very weird Puritan sex ed that teaches boys that periods can be "held in" lmao)
- Monolinguists who think other languages are "weird"
- Often won't have left their state and will be utterly unfamiliar with and scared of other cultures
- Uneducated, even if they attended school, because American education is the worst among the developed world
- Highly sexist and won't even realise it because its the norm.
You'll have a better time with European guys. Skip Americans unless you're American yourself. The culture trash is real.310 Reply- +1 y
I can speak on this American at least:
-I've never been told or even cared to know if periods can be "held in". That's their business. I'm sure your gender is full of surprises.
-Speak some Spanish, don't like it. Bloated language. Took some French, I did like it better.
-Have been all over the country. Travelling the states is the equivalent of travelling Europe. What you call countries, we basically call states. And our borders are pretty much open to each other.
State border patrol consists of a sign on the side of the road with nothing else around that says "Welcome to so and so". Been outside of the country. Relatives have been to Europe. My aunt in law is from Japan who met my uncle in the military because he wasn't like her abusive, imperialistic father. Yup, my uncle, an American guy. Must have been an ass.
-Hold a bachelor's in a STEM field. Some of our education does suck, sometimes you have to take the good with the bad and hear out people's bad opinions to come to a consensus
-Guilty. I am sexist. I exclusively date women. I'm not ashamed. - +1 y
Really? Is that why the US has a disproportionate share of the top universities in the world?
I've been to over 30 countries. If you think the US is sexist compared to others, including Western Europe, then apparently you haven't been to very many.
Your knowledge of America seems limited to the rural Southeast. - +1 y
@provokeesmokee Tell me you got rejected by an American guy without telling me you got rejected by an American guy 🤣😂😂

@PretttCrumblBb actually I was the one who dumped him, but he was a HUGE mistake I admit! 🤣

@provokeesmokee Sure, Jan.

@PrettyCrumblBb Lol, you don't need to believe me. I'm just telling you facts, though.
American boys are internationally known for being pretty dumbass. Heck, all Americans are known as such, lmao. Your most recent election cycle is only reinforcing this reputation. - +1 y
As long as you think we’re pretty.

@provokeesmokee Keep telling me your delusion; I'm diagnosing you.

Is that why European birth rates are soo terrible?
16.6K opinions shared on Dating topic. The comments from the most vocal, anti-US male posters here are either trolling or reflect a very sheltered existence. If you don't think there is sexism in Europe, you need to spend time outside of Scandinavia. Get pregnant and have a kid in Bavaria, Switzerland or Austria and see how hard those non-sexist European men try to keep you from coming back to your job. Or see how much sexual harassment there is at one of those mid-sized companies in Germany. And don't even get me started on Spain, France and Italy.
And no one is naive enough to think that European men are all "educated". Whatever is meant by that (probably holding leftist viewpoints- it's usually European leftists that dislike the US).
My mother who was German and married my father (from the US) never complained about US guys except as individuals.
05 Reply- +1 y
Never been to Europe have you? You're sterotyping off of ideology that doesn't really exist anymore. Sort of like Americans believing 5 or 10 years ago you were still in Cold War with Russia whereas the rest of the world wasn't so daft & dump.
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer: Yeah, sure I've never been to Europe, which incidentally is a pretty big place with varied cultures. No, in fact I have lived half of my life there, which is why I was able to specifically cite a form of sexism that is pretty prevalent in parts of Europe.
Now, about your weird claim that people in the US thought we were still in a Cold War with Russia, if you are referring to dumb shit like the Democrats' "Russia Hoax" used to attempt to bring down Trump and illegally spy on his campaign, I wouldn't say that was representative of the average American, and maybe not even of the average Democrat.
And we do need to acknowledge that Russia has once again been a geopolitical rival of the US since the late 1990s. And funny thing is, there is once again a lot of fear in parts of Europe about the Russian bear.
But of course I am likely responding to an arrogant brick wall who lives in a bubble.
- +1 y
- +1 y
@CuriousInquirer: Yeah, sure. What country are you from? Funny how these Europeans needed me to protect them.
And where are these allgedly badass European men when their women are getting raped by foreign men?
You're full of shit. Completely. And you don't have any facts to support your bs. - +1 y
@CuriousInquirer Liar. People here don’t have to listen to you about shit.

+1 yLumping all American men into one is about as bad as lumping all European men into one. I find the “all American men” comments pretty funny and hypocritical. I’m willing to bet some of these are immigrants encountering other immigrants in city hubs. I’m betting there is some figurative butthurt because of lack of literal butthurt from a guy of their preference. Race also matters. But people here are too scared to talk about that.

+1 y@bjork - If you are legitimately European DO NOT bother with American men unless they are immigrants themselves or 1st generation.
I live in America only because the company I work for is establishing an American office otherwise I'd stay in Europe. As far AWAY from American men as physically possible.
The average American man is:
Disrespectful - to other men or women, even holding open a door is beyond many
Expect a woman to "give out" easily - and cry she's a "bitch" when she doesn't.
Close minded
Ignorant / rude
Without culture
Arrogant without cause
Uneducated about the world - many can't even name their state capital
Overly prideful about little - they have no cultural or ethnic identityAnd all in all increasingly undesirable.
It is why respectful / decent American women are widely turning to dating / marrying European men or educated men of different ethnic groups (e. g. Christian Arabs, etc.).
221 Reply- +1 y
I lived in Europe for 15 years, and I must agree with @bjork. She is 100% correct, but not for the reason she says here. I mean yes men in general act this, but you the woman in America are like the most entitled woman in the world. Like they really believe they deserve everything and more, and the shit they put American men through is ridiculous.
Like when men do screwed up shit in America, we are sexist. When woman do the same shit its empowering.
Like Amercian woman have no idea how to treat a man right, and men by and large either respect them too much or not enough. A woman can act like they have no moral obligations to their men, so yeah @bjork is right. We men in Amercian are lacking something, and our women and society at large promotes it as a failure of men, and not woman.
When a man tries to open his mouth, he is silenced as a sexist. Which yes, in general makes us less respectful of woman, because we get no respect from them. - +1 y
Example... its empowering for woman to take half naked photos of herself and have them published on the front page of Sports Illustrated.
But its chauvinistic or sexist for men to view woman as sex symbols even when that is exactly what she is doing with her empowerment.
Welcome to America... what a joke right? - +1 y
Not @bjork but @CuriousInquirer
- +1 y
Here is a good one, women in America want to be treated and respected as woman, but you hold the door open for them and they will not say thank you. They will say they don't need a man to open the door for her, or she will think you are creep and walk right past you without looking at you or saying thank you.
So American men are like fuck that and fuck these women... then go overseas and they bring that mentality with them... because that is how they have been conditioned to think by American women. - +1 y
- +1 y
- +1 y
@DaveJord You embittered TROLL 🧌 @CuriousInquirer says she IS EUROPEAN so WHY are you going on about American women to someone WHO IS NOT American
- +1 y
@Honeysuckle12345 I think you misread everything and that is exactly what I am telling her as an European why Amercian men do not really respect American woman, and how that has translated into American men losing respect for woman in general. You just 100% made my point for me.
Europeans tend to have more respect for each other, where in Amercian we have no real respect for anyone.
American men no longer know how to treat women, because of women like you attacking me in the way and form in which you have personally came at me. I am making some pretty general points, and you are directly attacking me, and you feel empowered and justified to do it.
This is why men have lost respect and have disconnected in general, because in America this is considered justifiable for woman, but not for a man... and men in general are saying FUCK THAT!!! Which has turned into men saying fuck woman all together, because there are people out there like you who feel they have the right to treat and talk to men in the way you have just treated me.
- +1 y
Your just wrong @Honeysuckle12345 you sound like the type of person that will go off, just as you just have on me and see nothing wrong with it. I was just saying to @CuriousInquirer and agreeing with @bjork, that this is the way American woman act towards men and this why men are struggling to hang on to their own dignity while Amercian Society empower people like you to attack men, while at the same time silencing men.
Then here comes @Honeysuckle12345 illustrating my point 100% to the ounce or in this case down to the milliliter of as a prime example of how women treat men and feel entitled to do so in America. Like where is your mother and father, how were you raised to think this okay and justifiable, like what is your life story, to think its okay to act this way.
Did you have positive prenatal role models, or do you just attack everything you don't understand or can possibly try to comprehend before attacking? - +1 y
- +1 y
@DaveJord I'm going to be deleting your comments & blocking you, because your comments are absolutely disgustingly degrading for no reason whatsoever. The summary that I gave about American men applies to ALL Americans men and women; an ignorant uneducated culture that has an undeserving arrogance. That has NOTHING to do with women...
The original poster asked about men so it'd have been stupid to say American men AND women are like this - +1 y

I am not 47 and the things I have endured in the dating game from women at my age... let me tell you we are trashed, and if those women were worth every bit, they think they are worth, then hey would not be in their 40s and still available.
But then we nothing but @Honeysuckle12345 types to choose from don't we?

+1 yThe only way for someone to answer this is to date hundreds of men from both places. To generalize about either place is absurd. It's about individuals with their own unique style of dating. It varies by location, age, social status, financial status, upbringing, with a huge dose of individualism. Like anywhere in the world, look for someone you like and go for it.
10 Reply 340 opinions shared on Dating topic. Sadly most USA men are circumcised as infants. It's also fairly common in Canada. Other than that I don't think there are any consistent differences that I am aware of. I guess most men here like American Football. I personally have never understood the appeal. Most of the good men tend to be hard workers. That's all the interesting things I can think to say about the topic.

+1 yThere is no "American" culture. Individualism and multiculturalism are how it works here, everyone just lives how they personally prefer, and personality types are in the hundreds of thousands.
The United States is made up of immigrants from every other country and their descendents. There isn't a type of man or women elsewhere in the world thats not also found here.01 Reply- +1 y
There is also that each city, town, or state in the US tends to have its own dominant culture, dallas texas, manhatten new york, las vegas nevada, and los angelas california for example, are all nothing like eachother in terms of the local popular cultures.

Of course it does. - +1 y
@Honeysuckle12345 The Midwest. The South. The Southwest. The Southeast. The West. The Northwest. The North. The Northeast. The East.
These are all different regions with differences in culture. Southern drawl. Great white north. @Miristheiss is correct here. We also share a lot of similarities because we are human. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust
Plus Americans have Indian backgrounds, Asian, Mexican, Irish, Polish, Somali, Syrian, Jewish, Persian, Arabic, English, German... etc.
People come from all over the world. Some families have only been here a generation or two. - +1 y
You’re trying to group us all into one like our family lines were the same, that’s not true.
Europeans, African Americans, Southern Americans, and Native Americans are the predominant groups that have the highest degree of multigenerational history in America. It’s been rough between them. They’re sons of the soil. Native Americans have been here the longest when they migrated from Eurasia.
Indians, Asians, Middle Easterners, and Native Africans predominantly don’t have that same history. They’re very much minority Americans. Jewish people are all over the place, they have trouble setting up multigenerational lines in any nation. - +1 y
The USA has every culture in the world in it. its like a mini version of the rest of the world.
- +1 y
@love_conquers_lust those are regions not culture, and southern drawl is not culture. Fucking stupid American
- +1 y
@Honeysuckle12345 That would be the opinion of an uneducated European talking there. Southern culture absolutely is a thing. Southern hospitality is a thing. Southern fried food is a thing. Cajun food is a thing. In the Southwest, you find tons of Mexican food.
You’re seeing red and you’re arguing over semantics, probably because you got rejected or something. - +1 y
@love_conquers_lust Yep, the south has many cultures, as does every other part of the US, If the UN had their own country, this would be it, if a culture exists, we have it somewhere in the US, likely in multiple states for most of them.
Speaking of that, if you happen upon the kind of culture in the akihabara strip in tokyo japan presenting itself on a public scale in the US, I'd love to know about it.
Usually that culture is spread out across almost all coastal states and a few inland ones, but spread thin enough to only rarely accumulate into scheduled yearly conventions, and I'd love to see a more permanent one present itself. - +1 y
@Honeysuckle12345 Don't be an ass.

The big city hubs are where these arrogant guys they are meeting are at. These women are kind of stupid in that regard. They want to be cosmopolitan and concentrate themselves in cities where there is a higher F:M ratio, and they wonder why city boys treat them like crap.
The coastal cities are immigrant hubs, mostly people of darker skin. So it’s hard to tell who these women are encountering or what they are talking about. Easier and lazier just to lump all Americans into one. Coastal cities are not REAL America.
