For single dads out there: what role does your girlfriend play for your kids? Especially if your ex is still in their lives?

I am not a single dad nor a single mom, but I can imagine most would expect you to just love their child, be friendly and sweet with them and respect them.

Don’t try to be their mom, the child already has a mom and you will never replace her and you should never try that!

You can just be an adult who loves them. Simple as that.

My kids my rules basically. And my ex is still their mother and you're not replacing that. I would expect more of like an older sibling relationship than a mother child one if I'm being honest

I don't have a girlfriend but if i did, i expect her to care for him and respect him, anyways he ain't a kid, he's 16 and a half so maybe just get along well together...
