Ladies: Single dad a turn off?

Question

If a man fulfills his obligations as a father and is devoted to his child, do women find this a turn off?  Please respond to the poll and elaborate on your decision.

Absolutely! You see, I’ve been working hard to build my life, my career, and reach my goals and now I’m looking for a man to share that with. I’ve watched my peers raise children in this broken world and literally complain about it every single day. Kids are loud, they’re messy, they don’t let you sleep, they cost too much. Let’s just focus in on that last part. Diapers, health care visits, school supplies and after school programs, kid date nights and sleepovers, new cars and college. It never stops! When are you supposed to make time for your new date to get to know you when you have a child or two running around all the time? And then I hear this, “my kids are my world”. Nope. I need to be someone’s priority in life right now. For too long I’ve been second place or on the back burner. Maybe this doesn’t sound fair to you single dads who are looking for love too, but at this point in my life, I can come and go when I please, I can leave the state without checking with a third party or checking in with one. I don’t do baby mama drama even if she’s an angel.. but if she was, wouldn’t you still be with her? Just my opinion though 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm neutral his is neither a Turn on or Turn off. I find it very sweet and wonderful when a single dad is devoted to looking after his child because let's be honest is most likely  women who end up single parents. I would be open to dating a single dad sure, it would be like adopting a kid. Every child deserves 2 loving parents whether biological or not. However I expect the mother of the child to take some responsibility for her son/daughter. ( Unless she is deceased,miles away, in jail, or a mental ward.)I am not finishing a saved game.

I don't find this as a turn off, but it definitely is baggage. I wouldn't mind dating someone who had a kid, as long as the child was respectful. The man I am currently dating has a 4 year old daughter that I despise with a passion of life. She is manipulative, a liar, conniving, spoiled, rude, and just pure evil. It has brought a lot of tension into our relationship and I know I will never be able to be with him in the long run if he doesn't give the kid back to the mother. I want no part of this child.

I think he has better chances with women than a single mom would but it depends on a few things. If the single dad won custody it would show that the woman he got involved with was truly trouble and that he was doing what was best for his situation.

In the case where the guy is paying child support and not having custody it may make him look like a deadbeat who just hooked up carelessly.

I voted A but more for the "too much baggage" than for the "yes". It's not a turn off...it shows at least he can handle tough stuff and care for a child. But the too much baggage is more likely out of his control. He'll probably constantly be in contact with the child's mom, and as a single dad's girlfriend, I'd probably have to as well. And that means being dragged into their complicated mess. If the woman was completely out of the picture then maybe I'd have an easier time, but seriously I'd start to feel uneasy at one point or another, due to insecurity or frustration or something, because at the end of the day, his kid(s) should always be the number one priority in his life and I'll be tired of always being pushed to the side.

I didn't vote, because I didn't feel that any of the poll options really match how I feel. Personally, NO, being a single dad is not a turn-off. Especially if he's very involved with his kids, regardless of who has custody. But I can't stretch that 'no' to 'no, this is a good thing'. It can be I guess, it kind of depends on the guy.

3 out of my 5 ex boyfriends were single fathers, and I knew about that from very early on. It wasn't a deterrent for me.

It is a deal breaker for me, since I don't want kids. I don't like them and I don't want to be obligated to interact with one. If he's involved with his child, then he's a good person. But I just don't want a guy with that kind of baggage.

I voted A, but this is because, for me, a child is more serious than what I am looking for. However, it's always possible that finding the 'right guy' would make me less put off by the idea of a child being involved.
