I really like playing video games and I'd like to play with my girlfriend too.

Well in my opinion, there are "gamer girls" aka girls who played fortnite once or twice, and are more like Twitch streamers, and Sssniperwolf.

Then there are true gamer girls who are hardcore into it, and will spend a good chunk of their free time playing games and basically have little time or interest in doing anything else, they may also not have the best hygiene, and don't put a lot of time/effort into their appearance.

Of course those are 2 extremes.

What I assume you really want someone in the middle, a girl who is nerdy, enjoys video games but isn't obsessed, and possibly likes other nerdy stuff, will have no problem with you spending some of your time playing your favorite game, and even have some games you can play together.

For that I would honestly recommend places and events that are focused on games/nerdy things, see if you can join a local meetup. com group of that is something you think you would be interested in, or Facebook group, and/or online community that has a common interest.

If you are old enough for dating apps then I recommend Hinge, POF, or similar sites/apps, and just be clear about what you are looking for and your interests, I find the more honest you are (to a degree) the more likely you will find what you want.

But it has also been my experience that many (but not all) nerdy, gamer, girls tend to be shy, do not put themselves out there much, and are probably not really on dating apps, which is why I would recommend going to events or groups that have a common interest and let the connections happen organically.

I started gaming as a toddler, so it just seems odd to me, normally gamers tend to gravitate to games as soon as they are exposed, so what was detering you beforehand? Or was it just a finance or parents hate games thing?

I was always into watching others play games online, but was always scared of playing myself as I was very anxious whenever I tried to play anything. It wasn't untill my boyfriend bought a few games that I had to play and ge watched that I relaxed while playing (tho boss fights still get me scared af). And now we bought a game on steam to play together but I find myself playing alone a lot too and I sometimes just can't stop

Keep playing on online games with other random people you’ll run into a female eventually take it from there or they have some gaming apps where people look for friends to play games with usually some on there too or you can try dating apps some will tell you if they play games. Last option find a girl to get to know take it steps further after that if you both feel the same way if she doesn’t know how to play can always teach her we all had to learn some point
