Guy friend initiates make out?

This guy and I have been friends for more than half a year now. We’ve hung out one on one multiple times and after I said I have feelings he told me at he’s not romantically into me right now

Anyway after drinking together a few weeks later we made out for multiple hours and then hung out again a few days later. I didn’t bring it up and neither did he. I am going to bring it up to him to clarify. I should’ve done it in person but I’m going to have to call.
Guys - am I reading into this? What does it mean lol

Updated to say that while sober he has never tried to touch or kiss me or anything besides a hug
