Can friends become lovers?

I'm not talking about two guys or two girls here. Talking about two friends guy and girl. Is it possible most guys say that once a friend always a friend and should leave. But girls would say otherwise yet wonder why they lost him.

I hear that friends make for the best relationships, is this wrong or simply just a lie?

Yes. That has actually been the case for every one of my 7 long term relationships.


Friendship has always been the foundation. Then becoming more than friends was the natural progression if there was a special spark. The friend zone people talk about is almost non-existent for me. Perhaps because I’ve usually been categorized as a yes or a maybe — rather than get disqualified out the gate. I suppose, in a way, I’m like that meme: The Guy She Told You Not To Worry About. 🤣


(I don’t pursue girls that are in relationships though. If they’re taken, they’re taken, and I let them be and wish them the best. Though, I have experienced multiple occasions where I was a ‘friend’ and the girl began pursuing me shortly after breaking up with their boyfriend.)

I just make friends with people in general. Some stay as friends. Some just naturally become more than friends if the chemistry is right and we don’t have prior commitments.

Happend in my friendcircle. They knew each other for over 6 years. He had to move far away because new job opportunity. Just before he moved, we went out toghether and somehow one thing lead to another and they were dancing very intimiate togheter.

Later she told her it didn't hit her that she likes him more than a friend until he had to move. Same for him.

They are now 2 years happily toghether and visit each other monthly, despite the distance.

Very very rare tho, first case I ever saw.

It's certainly cheaper to do it that way (for the guy anyway). The guy gets to see how the girl likes him even when he's not buying her stuff, which makes her attraction seem more sincere. Plus it makes him look sincere as well, as over the course of spending time together as friends, the guy would have developed a mental and emotional attraction towards the girl, and not just a physical attraction. So both parties entering the relationship would feel appreciated for who they really are, and not what they bring to the table.
