Why in the world would he be threatened? From what? I don't really get the question. If he is threatened either I have done something massively wrong and he has some major insecurities about himself. No one should feel threatened that early in dating. Anxious and nervous? Yeah sure but not threatened. I guess my question is what would he possibly be threatened by? Not a good start if that is or was the case.

Sorry I hadn't seen a waiter mentioned anywhere. No why should he be threatened by a good looking waiter or any other good looking guy. That means he is insecure. I am on a date with him... not the waiter.

Probably not. If I am out on a date I am paying attention to the person I am with. Personally I become sorta oblivious to things around me.
