Guys, do you expect physical contact on a first date?

By physical contact i mean any kind of touch (kiss, hug, touching hands and so on).

I had a date with a guy who used to be one of my mates in college. We basically grabed a coffee and we drove somewhere in nature outside the city, chatted and walked around there for a bit more than 1h. We kept things friendly. That is ok to me because I need to take my time before I would get comfortable, but I am not sure if it was ok to him. He didn't try anything, so I didn't reject him or anything like that. I am a bit shy so I don't know how it looked like.

The best thing a guy can do is give them a really good hug and as they are releasing tell them in their ear that they really had a good time and would love to see them again.

This will get the second date primed with sexual tension and would be much better than trying to ruin it too soon with some kiss that is forced.

I don't expect physical contact but I hope for it. Assuming that I am attracted and interested in a second date, I normally try to hold a lady's hand, at the very least. At the end of the date, if I think she is receptive, I might try to give her a good night kiss but it might just be a kiss on the cheek.

Expect? No. Hope for (if things are going well), yes. Not sex, not a kiss, (though a kiss might be a great sign, and I'd be fine with it) but maybe a playful tap or a quick hand hold or arm touch. If it didn't happen in the first date, I wouldn't throw out a second date... but I would try to start more touch and affection on the second date if it hadn't happened by then.

What happens in a successful relationship is first the people get to know each other so assuming this happens, the guy will know that this is your way not a sign of waning interest or rejection. I hope you can communicate together enough to get around this, best of luck.

If a girl either doesn't like me enough for some form of physical contact on the first date, or lacks the nerve to touch me, then she isn't the right girl for me. I don't need sex right away, but some form of physical contact shouldn't be a big enough deal that it doesn't happen on the first date. I am an adult, I don't need to waste my time with someone so childish she can't bring herself to hold my hand.

I believe it's a matter of age, status and your stance in life. When you're experimenting in your 20s you have plenty of time for awkward hands-off dates, but in your 30s it becomes becomes too much of a nuisance. You're no longer that young and time is working against you, so yeah, you'd like just a little physical affirmation even if it's just the first date. That's how it was for me, at least.

If there was no physical contact on the first date - at least elbows rubbing, a single touch of the arm, or sitting very close to each other, the second date is usually worse (and a disappointment).
Maybe I get it to go there - am about to set the policy of raising the topic of sex right away, within the first 15 minutes, so I don't get attached to users/call it quits quickly

I have no idea how it's supposed to be, I have an old school model in my head so I don't expect it. With my girlfriend we dated for kinda of a month, going out more than once a week, but we had known each other well for more than a year, we had some hugs and things like that, but only when I asked her to be my girlfriend did we actually kissed

Yes, I would try to make it happen. It's weird not to have touched them and say it happens on a second date then it's more obvious the longer this has gone on and it becomes awkward and weird. I would just go for it early, super casual, like it's nothing. Probably would have happened before the date tbh.

No, I don't expect it at all, and in my experience, it usually feels forced at that point in the relationship. It's better for all involved to let the tension build and gain some familiarity before attempting anything physical.
