Going on a date for money?

My brother has a friend that is looking for a date for a wedding. He is willing to pay me $300 for the evening to act like his girlfriend. Very confused if I should do it or not

Honestly not that rare. Heck, I've been offered money to go as a boyfriend more than once.

Its not really about being desperate or anything. Most of the time they have relatives on their back about dating, getting married and so on. Showing up single makes that worse. Having someone with you who they will like? Instantly makes it go from accusations to flattery and then you get months, maybe years, of not being pestered.

As for money? Its a quick easy way to make it worth it for someone. And in many cases you may be asking them to take time off work, and so functions as reparation for that too.

But yeah. If it sounds interesting just check with him what he likes. Lay down some basic rules. Kiss on the cheek? Okay. Lips? No. Backstory? Profession? Whatever else matters. Its a fun experience and surprisingly common all around.

Well before you decide I would ask stuff like how long the wedding goes, will there be an after party what should you wear?

Then what he thinks "acting like a girlfriend" includes.

If you can set your boundaries you want and the money beeing worth the effort for you, I dont see why not thats up to you.

Basically it depends on what the guy means by “girlfriend” and what he expects from me. If it's a really nice but shy guy, then maybe I would do it, maybe for free. Otherwise he would have to find someone else.

Why don't he just go as a single guy? People will likely realise you aren't his girlfriend if they ask questions and both your stories don't match up. People like talking and asking other people questions

Only do it if your heart is in it, and by all means make sure to protect yourself for the day/evening you just never know who you're dating.
