Should I make an effort to look pretty to date?

i feel if i look pretty i will attract shit men. if i look trash i will attract a family type man who wants kids. i am not making this up. every woman i know who is married is fat or unattractive compared to model looking women i know who are single and desperate for a guy

Don’t go overboard. If it’s not your normal look then don’t present yourself that way. If you always get ready a certain way that’s how you want to go. Or else it’s total false advertising. There is nothing wrong with having a date outfit though, you don’t have to go in your work clothes.

Maybe you should reevaluate how you normally look. I mean self care and pride in one’s appearance says a lot about a person. It’s like the saying goes, dress for the job you want. Ask yourself what kind of man do you want? Then ask yourself what kind of woman are you comfortable being to make this kind of man happy? That’s how I look at things. I want to be a high value man to attract a high value woman. I don’t want a woman with no self respect or self esteem. At the same time I don’t want a woman that is overly outgoing. So it’s a tightrope to walk but you just have to get out there and see what happens.

because i used to take care of my appearence a lot and i would attract men that are not my type. i have a faith values hobbies goals ambition culture knowledge i think even health is important in dating and kindness, giving to the poor, love. i am fed up of attracting men who stare at me and ask me are u ok every five minute and can me go upstairs and spoon. this is not what i am looking for.

I would attract a lot of women I wasn’t interested in either. People see a handsome and self assured man and they hit on him. Some more openly than others. You have to roll with it and you have to be cognizant of the situations and environments you’re putting yourself into. If you’re going to bars or clubs then you get what you expect. If you’re a faith based person maybe meet someone at church or at some activity where they should share your values. But take care of yourself, be pretty like you want to be and just don’t be afraid to reject men that don’t align with your interests

Has it occurred to you that they may have became that way after they got married?

I have a relative who was very attractive at 22 and now at 30, married with 2 kids, has doubled in size.

yea but the most beautiful woman i have ever met in my life a french girl 32 honeslty perfect always getting compliments and being asked out by men i heard her crying on the phone that she wanted kids and couldnt find a husband. beautiful women can get dates but not marriage. all the women i know who are average looking are married. and getting fat isn't that easy you can't just get fat in 2 or three years of marriage.

Getting fat is pretty easy; I gained 5 pounds in a week at an all-inclusive in Cancun. But that's beside the point.

I don't think that a beautiful woman has more trouble finding a man to marry, I think she just has to deal with a lot more "noise" - men who aren't interested in marriage but want to bang her because she's hot. Whereas an average woman won't have to deal with as many inappropriate suitors.

i have a good attitude i have a good heart but then i dont make an effort on my appearance at all. tbh i never though about marriage because i was raised my a single mother who used to tell me that being a housewife was shamfull and that only think girls became haidressers. so i went to uni and studied science and it and i cut my own hair. my personal haidresser even offered me a job but then i refused because i was too ashamed.

We do want our girl to look pretty. If I ask you out on a date and it look like you had made no effort I would think you weren't very interested in me. More effort = more interest.

I really don't think you should feel shame for a path you want to take.

In terms of partners you need to be careful in your choice. Choose carefully and look demurely pretty. The type of guy you want won't be impressed by tits out.
