I 100% agree. To hold someone while you sleep is so comforting. I will sleep throughout the night and not even stir if I'm holding my girlfriend. But unfortunately, she is in a different state so we don't get to sleep together very often. When I'm not with her I don't sleep well at all.

In all the years we were married my wife and I have only been apart when one of us was in the hospital and once when i went on a retreat when I was in a fellowship program.

I would love to sleep with my wife in our bed again but several things stop it and I sleep downstairs on the couch.

1. She doesn’t want to get a new mattress. We got it in 2012 when we got the house - memory foam. But I have a herniated disc and pinched nerve and can’t afford the surgery much less do I want to go through it. But she doesn’t want to get a new mattress.

2. She can’t stand much heat so where I’m used to the temp 72-73. She drops the temp to 64-68 - in the winter! Also when it hits the hot summer she can’t stand being too cold so she’s snoring away and I’m sweating. by the way ceiling fans Don’t help.

So one night I had a powerful coughing spell and I got up and went downstairs to the couch to not interrupt her sleep. I had no idea that my coughing was so loud it woke her up. I took cough medicine and it didn’t help. So after the allotted time that the cough medicine didn’t work - she gets out a cough medicine that is as thick as chocolate syrup and looked as black as pine pitch, I took it and I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t cough and had the best sleep in my life on that couch. So I told her if she’s not willing to get a new mattress - I’ll just sleep on the couch. She wouldn’t do I sleep on the couch and it works because I can stay up late, watch tv, masturbate in the downstairs bathroom if I want, late night snack in the kitchen if I want. I control the thermostat for downstairs. So in a way it works out.

My ex girlfriend was nightmare to sleep with tbh. She once back elbowed me in the face while she while she was sleep turning.

Also I produce a lot of body heat. I often to find cold spots on my pillow because where my head is laying gets too hot. But having a body next to me makes it 10 times worse.

But there is ways to make it work. Get a king sized bed. Have a conversation that it is nothing personal but sometimes I need to sleep on the sofa or in another bed. You make it work if you communicate you need a good nights sleep.

wouldn’t say I hate it but I do occasionally crave cuddles. Doesn’t happen often though, I’ve been single since 2021 so I’ve gotten accustomed to sleeping alone

I hate it too. Wish I could hold my girlfriend every night. Winter or summer. Yes when its 90 degrees and sweating our ass off, I want to hold her. But alas for now, its me and my doggie.
