Should men get jealous of their girlfriend if she gets "too close" to her "male" friends?

My rule of thumb is that any friends, male or female, that I made before my relationship I’m keeping, new friends are usually female, or if they’re male it’s a mutual between my fiancé and I.


There was no room for “getting closer” with another guy once I got into a relationship due to my mindset. I find it disrespectful to be hanging out with some new guy without my partner there and unnecessary really, because what advice would I need from this person that I can’t get from my boyfriend, my female friends or an existing male friend? I can’t think of anything valuable another man can provide that isn’t already at my disposal.


The last thing I’d ever do is something I know could make my boyfriend uncomfortable or jealous when it comes to another man because he can expect the same mutual respect that I do, I’ll always prioritize his peace of mind, since I know I have a good fiancé who would do the same for me. There’s also a healthy layer of trust established, so even if I were to hang out with these male friends, he knows there’s nothing to worry about.

If any man or woman is all hugged up and flirting with any other man or woman, friend or not, then I’d question their level of commitment. But if they’re simply hanging out, maintaining a respectable distance and even invite you along then its not much to worry about

“Too close” is subjective because anything can mean too close if you are dealing with an insecure controlling partner.

If you are that insecure, paranoid or both then perhaps relationships are not for you.
