Ah man, that's always an awkward situation. Here's what I'd do:

- Be polite but direct when you respond to his messages. Don't leave him on read or take too long to reply.

- Say something like "Hey, it was cool chatting that night but I just see us more as friends. I'm sure you're a good dude but I'm not looking for anything more than that."

- If he pushes for more or keeps messaging a lot, you may need to be more blunt. Something like "Sorry, I'm really just not interested in anything romantic."

- Try changing the subject to more platonic stuff when you do talk. Ask how he's been, what games/shows he likes, mention other friends, etc.

- Don't feel obligated to respond to every message right away. A delay shows you're busy with your own life.

- If he won't take the hint, you may need to just be straight up and say you don't want frequent contact. Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

- Stay respectful throughout - just be honest but let him down easy. Hopefully he's cool about it since you barely know each other. Good luck man!
