Probably worse. It all depends on how savy he is involving modern technology. DNA can get you convicted now, they don't have to even have yours but can potentially match your DNA to an relatives in the database and narrow it down to get you that's how a lot of cold cases get solved. Then there's your mobile phone which can track your location very accurately to where you are and where you have been, the built in sat nav in your car does this too. If you are doing online dating then there is a record on the website exchange of messages etc, emails and who owns the device. Cheap cctv everywhere in stores and shops. Traffic cameras recording licence plates. Digital money transfers.

Bundy was on really caught because a cop pulled him over. So if bundy or someone like him with knowledge of all the modern technology that could catch a serial killer with that knowledge could potentially avoid getting caught for a long time and maybe never get caught. There's enough information on the Internet and plenty of crime documentaries that detail how serial killers get caught.

It's a pretty scary thought if you think about it that there may be serial killers out there that have yet to be caught that no one knows about yet. The Chicago strangler is still out there after 20 years with about 55-75 potential victims. When courts convict a criminal its for the crimes that they are aware of not all the unknown crimes they've committed.

It reminds me of the Ariel Castro kidnappings, not that he was a serial killer but that the guy was able to get away with kidnapping 3 girls ages 14, 17 & 21 and keeping them locked up in his basement for 11 years and apparently no one was aware until one escaped. The major thing I think about Ted bundy was that he was only caught by chance and could have killed more.

True. Castro case was heartbreaking. One victims parents didn’t even report the girl missing. Up yeah there are ways to be tricky if we ease up on policing. Not so much running down crack addicts but freaking online predators.

The question I would ask is how many of these types of cases actually go on and are never discovered.
Imagine the hardships those girls went through. Imagine being abducted at 21 and 11 years later you are only free at 32 having to start your whole life over and your family thought you were dead. Or when you were 14 and you get out and you've missed your entire high school and college years.

I have read about a few cases- several in Europe, weirdos. But it’s unimaginable.

I think worse. I believe (but don't quote me on this) partly why serial murders aren't as common nowadays is due to the advancements in identification technology.
