I don't think. Many claimed he was smart but I see these flaws:

- He got caught 3 times for lousy driving
- He bounce from degree to degree
- Never worked as a successful lawyer (what he studied for) nor politician
- He used 2 Volkswagen Beetle (one he owned in Utah and another one stolen in Florida) instead of a luxurious car a very smart, wealthy person would own
- The simple reason he chose to kill women and seriously thinking he would get away with it... all he did was decrease his lifespan since he got the electric chair in the end
- Trying to get other girls by pretending to be wearing a cast; someone successful wouldn't need to put an elaborated act. There were a couple days where no girl would get in the car. Not all girls wanted to get in.

I don’t know too much about Ted Bundy, but I think there is in fact an over-exaggeration of the intelligence of well-known serial killers. I’ve seen this often where media will claim that serial killers such as Ted Bundy, BTK, The Green River Killer, Richard Ramirez, John Wayne Gacy, etc. are all uber intelligent, smart, or cunning. On top of this, entertainment media will depict serial killers as evil geniuses that play somewhat of a cat and mouse game with a rival on the opposite aisle, namely the side of the good. I personally think that these killers had a lot of things going for them which caused their success in killing many people. Perhaps they planned in advance before every kill, taking into account minutiae of detail and not getting ahead of themselves. These weren’t evil geniuses in my opinion, rather, people with the perfect amount of knowledge, planning, target selection, etc. to carry out a bunch of killings.

When I say “perfect amount of knowledge” I’m referring to the array of knowledge, perhaps mostly practical, such as how to tie effective knots, how to clean the scene of the crime, how to discard the bodies, how to position the bodies to obscure intentions, etc.

Ted bundy's has a 136 IQ meaning he could have joined mensa the big problem is he was a complete psychopath the making it almost impossible for him to delay gratification and needs to be entertained witch would also make it extremely difficult for him to do all the paperwork and discovery necessary to be a good lawyer.
Volkswagen beetles would be better to blend in well stalking or carrying a body not to mention in a you need to stop far less for fuel
Again it's the fact he is a psychopath more than his intelligence
Using a prop in a scam is a extremely common and effective method when using a scam

As someone who used to work for my state's department of motor vehicles you must be living under the crown for the use of "lousy." What exactly is lousy driving its a vague term. I say he was a genius and he know it. Many people have psychopathic traits its when you act on them that makes you a psychopath. Which is exactly what Bundy did.

He almost succeeded.
He never gave up, his lies were soo strong!
Even after being held and evidence proven, he managed to stay alive, keep up to his wife and side chick!
