Such a nickname isn't inherently a problem.
In college I was also given it, for regularly throwing large sticks at a stump. On graduation day, a cute fellow graduating girl walked up to me and said, "I just had to tell you that you look like Johnny Depp". Alas for my never interrupting her rollerblading. I won't say what you can or can't do.

Unless you have rotten teeth or an unwashed body, which are both solvable, such a nickname likely only refers to a rugged appearance or frequenting an ancient activity.

Well in “caveman” times, men typically hunted on a daily basis and were very active. They may have not looked like body builders, but they had to be in pretty decent shape. Women tend to be attracted to fit/capable men, and cavemen were indeed fit and capable.
