Some guys told me I shouldn't bother and just wear sexy clothes since looking cute won't work on me but I prefer cute clothes like wearing school uniform or cardigan with blouse and short skirt or flower dress.

Sorry what, "it won't work" ? I don't get the circle you live in, this is intriguing, I've never seen any group of guys telling a girl that any type of clothes won't work. Nor can I imagine any girl paying attention to such "advice" lol

I hear it often that tall hot girl should be sexy and short cute girl should be cute, they can't imagine a girl with a cute youthful face as sexy neither can they imagine the reverse.
They made me self conscious as if I was too old to dress cute. They said not to bother cause I wouldn't look cute no matter what I do anyway and just wear sexy clothes as they're better in their opinion.

Well, I have never seen what you describe, it's alien to me. Where I live, people identify clothes they want for themselves, usually during adolescence, it's an acquired and personal taste. No one interferes with this, and no one should interfere, as it is strictly a personal area.

Also, seriously defining a girl as either hot or cute as if she was a puppet activated by a sort of on/off switch? The world you live in is unknown to me, so is what you "hear often", unknown AND depressing

It's rather depressing yes, they made me insecure to dress cute for a long while. I started back to dress cute and I felt so much better then when I was wearing sexier clothes.

my friend define me as sexy because of my face (I don't have a cute youthful face since my face is not round but oval and I have defined face features) and body I'm curvy. Their main comment is since my face isn't round with chubby cheeks but more bony it look sexier and thus with my curves and my face the cute looks look bad and they prefer seeing me in more revealing clothing.

That's clearly caused by your specific surroundings featuring an invasive point of view, they are using a logic to define you, which is marketing logic. It's psychologically terrible to apply such logic to people, because then you become a product and a packaging, fitting or not fitting whatever preferences people have around you. From there, you can only feel insecure because you're not in control of your identity anymore... Until you take back the power to decide what you wish to wear

Well women who have cute face (round face, shorts height, petite, etc...) should wear cute clothes and those who have sexier. features (hourglass shape, sexy face, big boobs, etc..) should wear sexier / mature clothes, at least to what I have been told.
