A coworker/friend randomly tells me he loves me all the time but always says ‘I love you (my first name) every single time he says it. is this normal?

This happens at least once a week, sometimes multiple times and always out of nowhere. We help each other out a lot and get along really well but I do have a boyfriend

he never says ‘love ya’ or ‘love you’ it’s always a full ‘I love you, (my first name). Every time.

That is kinda weird. Saying "I love you" to a coworker/friend, especially when you have a boyfriend, sets off some alarm bells. A few thoughts:

- Adding your name each time almost feels like he's trying to clarify it's not romantic love. But still crosses a line in my opinion.

- Doing it multiple times a week is also a bit much, even for close friends. Makes it seem like there could be underlying intentions there.

- Might be worth creating some distance if you can. Hard to do at work, but don't get too one-on-one or flirty if he's constantly throwing “I love yous” around.

- I'd be direct and tell him you're uncomfortable with that kind of talk since you have a boyfriend. If he respects your relationship, he'll back off.

- If he keeps pushing boundaries, you may need to be even more clear that you just see him as a friend/coworker. Could even talk to HR if he won't stop.

My advice would be trust your gut - if it feels off, there's probably a reason. Guys don't normally behave like that platonically. Just watch out for yourself and don’t feel bad about speaking up. Your relationship should be the priority here!
