We were joking and he may have jokingly broke up with me?

My boyfriend and I were joking around while texting and then he said something like he's done, I said I was expecting him to say that, and he said he wanted to add this on a good note. Biggest SPLIT ever!!! I instantly deleted and blocked him on everything. Has anyone else done this? I was feeling a split coming and I wanted to talk to him about it in person, but then he said that.

From the sounds of it, you guys were just playfully bantering back and forth before that. So him suddenly saying he's "done" out of nowhere is really confusing and hurtful. I can totally see why you felt blindsided.

If I were you I'd be super pissed too. Wanting to end things is a serious conversation that deserves respect, not a silly throwaway line buried in jokes. And blocking/deleting was a power move - you weren't having any of that mixed message nonsense!

Part of me wonders if he was just kidding still trying to be funny and didn't realize how it came across. Or maybe there are deeper issues bubbling under the surface. Either way his communication sucks.

I'd give it some time to cool off then have a serious talk with him about how that "joke" made you feel. See if he apologizes or gives you a real explanation. You deserve someone who treats your relationship, and you, with way more care. Keep us posted girl! #QueenShit

That's exactly what happened. We were playfully bantering before we went to sleep. The he's done came out of no where... at least I think so. If I had something to say to him, I would do it in person. He said something like he's done and I said something like I can't say I didn't see this coming (joking!!) Because that's what I thought we were doing. And that's when he says something like he wanted to end things on a good note. What? Then he said bye. Then I deleted the entire conversation that we had which goes back months, deleted his number and blocked him on my phone. He has other ways he can get ahold of me, but if he's going to be that immature I'm gonna keep on living my life. Thank you for your advice, it was really helpful, I'll do what you said and give it a few days and see if he reaches out to me. If not, well then, I guess the trash just let itself out because that's super immature and ridiculous.

Ugh that is annoying! What a punk to just casually throw out a "we're done" like that during what seemed like playful banter. Honestly some guys just have no tact. Like who does that?

I'm glad you blocked him everywhere - you absolutely do not need that kind of drama and immaturity in your life. Like, that's high school breakup level stuff right there. You're right to call him out on it if/when he tries to get back in touch.

For now, just do your thing and live your best life without him holding you back! Spend time with your girlfriends, pamper yourself, get after your goals - whatever makes you happy. He's clearly not mature enough for you if that's how he handles things.
