Is it just me or is this a very strange encounter with a cashier?

I went to a local gas station to get a pregnancy test and some snacks with my boyfriend and this went down.

Boyfriend: are those pregnancy tests up there?
Cashier: yea, which one you want?
Me: I’ll take the blue one.
Cashier: is this yalls first time?
Boyfriend: first time what?
Cashier: first time baby?
Boyfriend: oh no it’s just to have

Yeah. The cashier needs to mind his or her business. Maybe they were well meaning. Who knows. But it’s weird.
