Is this normal at the start of a "relationship"?

Anonymous

I've been friends with this guy fo like a year now. we are in the same group but we weren't super close or anything. its only ever been friendly with a touch of flirty. however, on new years we kissed and from then on we'd been chatting all day everyday. we didn't start hanging out one on one together until recently because us getting together caused a little drama in the group and we didn't want to push things. over snapchat and text and talking on the phone things are great. we always have something to talk about and the banter is so good cause we seem to be very similar people. our first date went really well. we were joking around a bunch and laughing heaps. since then the chat has been the same over the phone and stuff, however, in person we seem to be becoming more awkward around each other. the conversation doesn't stop but it feels like we are struggling to think of conversations and we just keep coming back to the same things. on the outside he seems like a very confident person and I've always been very shy but i dont know if he's a little nervous or something when its just the two of us. the chat is still great over the phone but we still haven't put any labels on anything or had a serious conversation i think cause we are both kinda bad at the emotional stuff. this would be both of our first relationships as well. is this normal at the start for couples or should it feel easier?
