Do women use dating sites just for attention?

I notice many women just seek for validation from men online yet have no intention to meet up in real life. I was talking to this girl for a couple months and everything seemed good until I tried asking her out. We video chat a few times and it was all smooth. I thought it is strange that she doesn’t give me any of her social media account, not even her number. She gave a lot of excuses not to meet up. Is it possible that these women actually already have a boyfriend or worse is married because this has been happening multiple times with different women.

I don't think they're using dating sites just for attention, because they can always just use social media for that. But with what you describe they do, it's probably that they're looking for sex but trying to play the field in a way that doesn't look like it. Women do that on dating sites all the time. They're trying to get things on their terms and if they've felt you out enough through some chat, they'll figure you're not really a good candidate for a hookup. So they drop you altogether.

An actual dating site? Probably not. Not to say no one does but if you want attention and validation apps are quicker, easier and probably more satisfying.

Of course I am sure it can be equal parts tiring and fascinating to do a simple post and get hundreds of replies the same day.

Many people are shy though. On any dating site/app the norm that meets should happen quickly is because so many people, men and women, never show.
