So I'm dating this guy, we were talking on the phone and he asked me to send him a photo, I told him I'm in my PJs so I'll send him a photo later and he said

"Look, when I ask you for a photo I'm not looking at your aesthetic, I just want to see you... You're not ugly, all my friends I've sent your photo to, said you're cute"

Am I overthinking it? I just felt a little bit awkward as he didn't directly said I am attractive, also why would he even mention what did his friends say. I was not saying I'm ugly...

Him saying you are not ugly is him reassuring you that you aren't ugly if that is why you aren't sending the photo. The boyfriend is proud to claim his girl and respect her when she's not around. Saying she's not ugly can be a funny and playful way to express it.
