What if you click with someone extremely well but she's not the prettiest. Can her personality make you more attracted to her and you would be able to overlook some flaws or would you rather wait for a prettier girl who meets your aesthetic standards more? Personality/connection or looks?

+1 yWell... The whole point of attractiveness is to attract people to each other. However, it's a matter of extremely low importance for women, as they are all born to be baseline attractive and as long as they don't make appalling dietary or cosmetic surgery mistakes, they do stay that way and don't really have to worry about being attractive to men. If anything, I make a conscious effort to avoid overly attractive women, labelling them as fake. I mean... Makeup can make anyone excessively attractive, unless You're a skinny man under the height of 180 cm, so looks cannot be trusted. Now of course, some aspects of looks can point towards deficiencies in character, and I guess that's as far as their validity goes.
Once the contact has been established, that is to say, once the two people have been attracted to one another, personality is absolutely crucial. It's not just that it can make up for deficiencies in looks - there are some character flaws no kind of good looks can make up for. Like, I want nothing in common with Amber Heard or loads of her mental clones, no matter how alluring they might seem. The fact that the woman throwing plates and possibly kitchen knives at me is gorgeous doesn't make the actual situation of having plates and knives thrown at me any less dangerous or humiliating.
The point is, looks degrade over time, and personality more or less stays forever. It could probably degrade over time spent in luxury, but as luxury is, well, luxury, it's a minor threat. Thus, personality is the only important thing in long-term relationships, such as the true, traditional, purely Catholic marriage. Given that's exactly the type of relationship I want... I really couldn't care less for excessively good looks.

+1 yFor me, it's personality that makes me attracted to a girl. It's nice when a girl looks good, of course, but if I just wanted something nice to look at I could find a pretty picture on the Internet. Compassion, kindness, love, selflessness, wisdom, integrity, humility, honesty, dedication, motivation... these are the things that really turn me on. It just changes the way I see someone, I guess. No matter what kind of face or body a girl has, if she's selfish and arrogant, she's going to look ugly to me. But a woman who is emotionally mature and treats people the way they deserve to be treated has an intangible aura around herself that makes her appealing even if people might think she's not good-looking. It's the emotional and intellectual connection and companionship that I crave in an intimate relationship. If there is a woman who loves me who is an earnestly good person, then I feel like the luckiest man in the world. You can have more faith in a good person to do the right thing when push comes to shove. She will be a shining example of excellence to strive toward emulating. She will encourage you to be the best person you can be, walking side-by-side with you on your walk along the path of self-improvement, where every day you hope to be a little more loving than you were the day before. That's someone I would be very proud to be able to call my own, and I would have no shame in holding such a person in high regard.

+1 yInitial attraction is usually based on looks, but not always. Personality typically becomes more important than looks as the relationship progresses.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWhen you like someone you've never met It's always attraction at first sight. In time you get to see their personality and decide whether it's worth to be with them or not. There are people that just go for the looks even if they have horrible personalities. But I like my girl pretty and kind. She doesn't have to be a super beautiful woman, just pretty. Otherwise I can't fall for you no matter how kind you are. Not to mention that the more beautiful she is the more high maintenance she is and full of herself like she's some kind of queen and needs to be treated as one otherwise she'll find someone who can.
Take for example a Lamborghini or Ferrari. Those are very high maintenance cars. You'll need constantly to be ready in case something goes wrong and replace the parts, oil, scratches etc. which are expensive, otherwise you won't be able to to keep it for long. Why go for one of those when you can go for something cheaper like a BMW or Audi etc which is just as cool and good looking but without being as high maintenance as those.00 Reply2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. It is a combo of body, face, personality and character. You'll never know character quickly and people will say they are very faithful when they cheat their little hearts out. That only comes with time.
Personality becomes known quickly but shy and/or introverts will take longer. A girl could be very funny but be shy and hide it initially.
Body is immediately apparent and face is too. It is not exactly pass or fail but akin I think. Guys know immediately if they want to fuck a girl and that is the acid test.00 Reply
+1 yBelieve it or not, considering this is about a potential partner, her personality is far more important to me than her looks, in spite of some of my preferences, which actually are only preferences, which nevertheless may indeed still influence a first contact. And by the way, perfection is not from this world ;0)

+1 yLet’s be honest… it’s her looks that’ll catch our eye and her personality that’ll make us want to stay.
It’s a whole package. You can’t separate it to pieces to see which piece is more important. It’s all important.20 Reply Virginity can make me overlook some flaws, and is says a lot about personality in my book.
10 ReplyPersonality. Even if the woman isn't traditionally attractive or even disabled, I would give her a chance, if she had a sweet personality.
Personality is something any woman is capable of working on.
Be kind, caring and sweet. That's pretty much it.
That's wifey material.

+1 yIt's always a combination of both for almost everyone
Depends on the person about how much they value looks and personality
For me , above a basic minimum in looks.. all that matters is that she's sweet.. sweeter the better20 Reply
+1 yI guess personality. I don't really know. The thing to me is that looks are a part of personality. As with what she says, does, all sorts of things. It's all a package deal. I'm trying to figure out who she is so I use my eyes, ears, maybe even nose (hopefully she smells okay).

+1 yThey are pretty inseparable. You cannot have one without the other. Honestly, looks is what draws the guy in right away. I've never seen an attractive girl walk in and say to myself, wow, I've got to meet her, look at the personality on her.
It takes a bit to learn their personality and more importantly character, their values, their goals... etc.
Both are equally important.

+1 yYes but it can’t be the extreme. If she’s ugly, amount of personality is going to make up for it. It’s the same for men too. Simply put - we need to be attracted to somebody to even want to get to know them.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yDepends on what I see on the profile, and that includes what's written. If it's club pics holding drinks, ass in the face... a bunch of gibberish about LGBTQ, BLM just like 98 percent of the rest, then her looks don't matter. I want someone who actually IS original, not just talks about it to make herself feel good but is actually scared shitless to do it.
10 Reply982 opinions shared on Dating topic. Personality & connection is the most important. I don't want to be with someone who makes me miserable, no matter what they look like.
10 Reply13.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. Personality for certain. A bad personality is a deal-breaker regardless of a woman's physical beauty. I can get over any flaws in appearance.

u +1 ypersonality, always... that's always been the most important to me
looks are secondary
20 Reply 2.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. Personality, moral compatibility, and interests in common to enjoy together matter more, but her looks needs to be at least a 5 or better because there needs to be some physical attraction too.

+1 yFor a long-term relationship personality is vastly more important.
It doesn’t change how physically attractive you are at all, but it makes it significantly easier to overlook unattractive physical traits.00 ReplyPersonally is far more important, you can make a 6/10 a 12/10 if she is amazing.

+1 yAttraction, Looks, Beauty Fades Away! So we will be for the rest of our life with Personality... is same like a Apple, can be batterd on the outside, but inside can still be.. sweet, tasty, moist...
00 Reply BOTH; but mostly it depends upon situations, if its about short term or hookup or one night kinda things, looks>>>personality (but still both is considered); if wanna see future scope balance between the two traits (of course would like to maximize both); if dating personality>>>looks. If in relation (i. e engaged or married), nothing matters, you have to work with what you've got😉😂.
00 ReplyDefinitely personality, I mean there has to be some physical attraction, but personality is definitely top in my book and can make her more attractive

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI think chemistry is important. But, as I have gotten older, I tend to look for women who are sane and have character and personality. I have dated many women who are entitled, nasty, selfish bitches. I only tolerated them because of how they looked and the sex.
00 ReplyDespite what the media has you believe men are much more forgiving in the looks department than women. I’d take an uglier girl that treats me like a king over a hottie that treats me like garbage

+1 yPersonality over looks but I also personality doesn't help make an orc less of an orc. Gotta be at least in the realm of average
02 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, I meant if she's just average, her beauty doesn't really stand out but you have so many things in common with her and you find her adorable and sweet. I just wondered if guys can overlook these things such as a bigger nose etc or not the prettiest side profile and still find the girl attractive for who she is.

Looks are not super high on my list they are more a bonus. My wife is very attractive but I married her because she is a really good person. Super sweet, kind, caring. Fiercely protective of the ones she loves, great with kids, encouraging supportive, trusting, honest etc. On top of all that she is breathtakingly beautiful.
100% personality for me. Looks are great, but when someone has a great personality they start looking more and more attractive to me over time

00 Reply I would definitely say personality is way more important.

+1 yPersonality hands down. Outer beauty will fade. Inner beauty remains.
