I always imagined it happening on a spaceship. Not a shiny new spaceship but an old, worn-down spaceship used for transporting cargo. And my crush and I had just come out of hypersleep, and we're not even sure why we were woken up, but then Mother- we call the ship's computer "Mother"- explains that it picked up a distress call from a nearby planet.

So we go down to this planet, and we find this huge alien spaceship that looks like it's been there for a long, lomg time. We go into the spaceship, and we see the remains of a huge, vaguely humanoid creature. And its chest seems to have exploded outward. And in another chamber of the spaceship, there are all these greenish objects that look almost like eggs. When a crewmate of ours bends over one of the eggs, it opens, and a hideous monster attaches itself to the crew member's face.

My crush and I carry our friend back to our own spaceship. The science officer lets us in, even though he shouldn't have because of quarantine protocols. We get a better look at the creature, and we realize it's inserted a tube into our friend's throat for some reason. We try to cut it off of our friend, but it bleeds acid, so we have to avandon that plan. And then after a few hours the creature just dies, for no obvious reason.

My crush and I and the other crew members are all relieved that the ordeal is over. We decide to have a meal before we go back into hypersleep. But then the crew member who had been attacked by the creature starts convulsing, and and evil-looking monster, about the size of a cat, bursts out of his chest. we're all too shocked to do anything, and the monster runs away.

So now we have to find the monster and kill it before we can go back into hypersleep. We all split up so we can search the ship, but my crush and I stay together. And just for a second, going around a particularly dark corner, we touch hands. Very romantic.

Another crew member finds the monster, but somehow over the course of a few hours it's grown from the size of a cat to eight feet tall. It eats the crew member that fund it, then slowly begins picking the other crew members off, one by one.

My crush and I are horrified. When we try to learn what we can from Mother, the ship's computer, we discover that the message from the alien spaceship wasn't a distress call, but a warning to stay away, and that the corporation we work for sent us to that planet deliberately because they want to capture the monster alive, even if it means sacrificing the entire crew.

Since my crush and I are the only crew members still alive, we decide to blow up the ship and take our chances in the escape pod. Right after the ship detonates, there's a moment between us where we're staring into each other's eyes. But then it turns out that the monster has also made it aboard the escape pod. Thankfully it was asleep when we discovered it. We quietly get into space suits, then open the doors of the escape pod and eject the monster into the cold dark void of space.

There's only one hypersleep chamber, so we have to snuggle in together. Right before we lose consciousness, we declare our love for each other and kiss.

That's how I always imagined it, anyway.
