Do you accidentally mix up your ex’s name with your new partner’s name?

I loved my ex madly in the past and took me 1.5 year to get past him.

His name was always sacred in my mind, until I met someone with whom I felt a better connection and since then when I mentioned my ex with my friends, I often accidentally said the name of that new man, kind of interchangeably and

I also so often thought of him, that I have accidentally called some other people his name.

It has never happened to me before.

Why does our brain mix up certain names but not others? Why mix up only two names of people I have had some feelings for but not other people’s names?

Now both are left in the past and I am no longer thinking that much about either.

Just thought it’s weird to have had their names mix up in my brain.
