My mom has a bias against older women who date much younger men saying they are weird and it looks ugly. But she's fine with older men dating much younger women because it's natural and girls are more mature.

Considering women reach their sexual peak in their 30s and 40s while men reach their peak around 20, it makes sense for older women to want younger guys.

Having said that, she is entitled to voice her opinion, however wrong that may be.

The “girls are more mature” is nonsense. There’s no meaningful evidence to support it. There never has been.
The reason women are attracted to older men is that older men are more likely to have developed the resources and income potential to meaningfully provide for all of a woman’s needs and desires, especially children. By that fact, it’s actually immaturity. A mature person takes responsibility for their needs and desires. They don’t look for someone to take care of them. That’s quite literally childish.
Your mother is older and her values simply haven’t changed. Her feelings are likely rooted in thoughts that a young man can’t properly provide and an older woman should value family over her sex life. Those are antiquated beliefs. Women can be bread winners and keep boytoys or trophy husbands if they want. The fact that they do is more proof that “girls are more mature” is complete and utter rubbish. Ell oh ell!

She only feels that way because it was the norm up to the 1970s. Increasingly since the late 70s there are several couples featuring older women with younger men. Whether the relationships last is another question all together.
If you're asking whether your mom's OPINION is fine or wrong… who besides you is she telling, really? Leave the poor woman alone.
If you're asking whether it's OK to date majorly younger/older (either the guy or the gal being older), it's simply up to the individuals involved. Both have to be mature and ready to accept some people to be happy for them and some to be upset.

I also find it a bit odd when older women go for younger guys but don't feel the same about the opposite. Not that I think is 'natural' is just more acceptable. I wouldn't express certain opinions out loud tho.

I think it depends on how much the age gap is. My mum had a ballroom dance teacher who was 20 years older than her husband. She passed away last year just after his 75th birthday and just before her 95th after over 50 years together.

It's more unusual that way round, but I'd say if the younger partner is at least mid 20s then it's not a problem. The problem is guys or women my age (52) chasing teenagers who are barely legal. The only relationship I've ever heard of succeeding with a gap of over 20 years is Dick Van Dyke, who is now 98, and his wife Arlene Silver, currently 52. They've been married since 2012.

Every person out there has their own views and opinions when it comes to dating and differences on age. Some prefer older partners and there is nothing wrong with that. However it the bigger the age gap between two partners the more attention the couple will draw to themselves and depending on the nature of their relationship it might get lots of judgements.

I think huge age gaps are weird in general but not necessarily wrong. I don't think it's any worse for a woman to date a younger man than it is for a man to date a younger woman, but if the two are looking to have kids that's a bit different, since old men can still have kids but old women can't. So I don't think it's wrong morally, but it can be an issue if the two want kids.

In my opinion your mother being older has the traditional view on relationships and in her era and before females did marry older guys. It was quite normal for a 18 year old to marry a guy up to 30 as most men would be married by then. As times have changed and females don't marry or marry a lot later I guess they also look for youth and I guess younger men are more energetic. I guess you just have to go with the times and unless they want children then why not?

I would say that your mother must harbor thoughts of having sex with an older guy. Maybe something happened to her as a younger woman. As for the age differences. The two drawbacks would be at retirement age and if children were produced. If the man is a lot older. The woman might need to figure on finishing raising their children as a single parent.
Besides, when the lights are out. You can be having sex with anyone that you want!
