Is this wrong or ok?

My wife and I have 3 nieces and 2 nephews. We have them over for dinner once in a while and play board games and then bring them home for bed after we are done.

One time we had a day planned out weeks in advance for use to have one of the nieces over the 2nd oldest. We had the day planned out for what we were doing including having her favorite games and movies to watch. She is 6 years old so we planned accordingly for her age.

My wife went to pick her up and came back with her and one of the nephews who is 9. He said that he was board at home and wanted to come. I admit that I was surprised and annoyed that my wife didn’t even call to ask me if it’s ok. She just assumed that it was without calling or texting.

If she did call or text I don’t know if I would have said yes or not I believe I would have said no.

He was very rude the whole time he was here and was back talking to me pretty much the whole time. I couldn’t bring him back home due to the fact that the weather was bad outside.

She and I got into a huge fight after we dropped off the kids. I told her that I grew up that it was wrong and inappropriate to invite yourself to someone’s house at all even though your sibling or siblings were invited.

My question is this. Was i wrong to snap at my wife about this and I’m overthinking it, or was it in the wrong that the nephew just invited himself over.

Do I bring this up to his parents?
