I have been talking to this guy for going on two months. We’ve been on one real date, it was a breakfast date and we hang out often after work, we’re co workers. We work overnights. So, when we get off in the morning at around 6:00 am, we go on walks, we talk about things we both enjoy and find interest in learning about the things we both enjoy. We have the same kind of humor. He’s teaching me things as much as you am teaching him. He even planned one big special date for us. We’re taking things slow. There is no title. We just had our first kiss with each other about a week ago and he was very respectful about asking me if I was ready to kiss him even though he knows this isn’t my first relationship. He just knows I haven’t been in a relationship for a year now. He’s a gentleman, he’s honest, he’s gentle with me. He always genuinely compliments me. It’s always more than just “You’re pretty” “You’re beautiful.” He goes into detail, detail that I have never had pointed out to me about my beauty, about what he admires about my physical and inner beauty but I keep this “This seems too good to be true.” mentality and I think it could be because of me holding on to my past relationship and all that came with it that hurt me.

It sounds like this new guy really treats you right, which is refreshing after what you went through before. But I get why it's hard to fully trust again after being hurt. A few things that help:
- Remember that every guy is different. Don't assume this one will turn out like the last. Give him a fair chance to show you who he is.
- Focus on how he makes you feel in the present, not worries about the future. The way he respects you and opens up is a good sign.
- Communication is key. Share some of what you're feeling with him - your concerns about getting hurt again. His response will say a lot.
- Take it slow and steady. Build intimacy gradually so your bond deepens naturally over time. Don't rush big steps until you feel secure.
- Believe his sincere compliments! Guys don't shower that much genuine praise unless they mean it. He seems into all of you.
- Learn to accept loving feelings by focusing on the good times you two share. Joy expands our ability to trust.
With patience and effort, I think you can get past your hesitations. Easier said than done, I know, but it'll be worth it if you find someone who truly cares for you the way he seems to. You deserve that kind of dude, so don't sell yourself short!
