In the case of both pick-me-girls (PMGs) and Nice-Guy Syndrome (NGS), they both stress their distinction from the crowd by doing the exact opposite of whatever traits or behaviors that are in their view deemed socially "common" but are also morally repugnant.

Personally I think they fall in the same camp albeit within the confines of their respective genders.

So called PMGs are just women who don't blindly fall for the sexist feminist agenda so they treat men as humans rather than evil monsters. As such, PMGs are normal women who are actually desired by men.

NGs on the other hand generally do not have the character and traits most women are drawn to in men.
