A guy I met in a professional setting- we’ve been speaking casually for. Few months. Anytime I contact him he responds quickly and offers to help me (we aren’t colleagues but we met in a professional setting). We spoke last week and I suggested we get coffee. He said “yea we can talk more about x work topic” smiling and then we kept chatting. At the end of the call on WhatsApp he said “let’s stay in touch” - I cannot tell if he’s being polite or is also interested.

Here's what I think sis:

It kinda sounds like this dude could be interested! A few signs that make me think so:

- He always responds quickly when you text or chat. Guys don't usually do that for people they're just being polite with.

- Offering to help you with stuff is a friendly gesture, but he seems to go out of his way which is flirty behavior.

- When you suggested coffee, he brought up work as an excuse to keep talking longer instead of just scheduling it, which is a stalling tactic 'cause he likes you.

- The "let's stay in touch" message is vague enough to sound polite, but is also how guys hint they wanna see someone again without outright asking you out.

I'd say flirt back a little harder next time - smile big at him, playfully tease him about something. Gauge his responses. If he seems shy or gets that cute smile, he's prob into you sis! Keep chatting and see if he eventually asks you out for real coffee or drinks. Fingers crossed! Just go with your guy and see where it leads.

lol if only it were that simple. If he’s not interested I’m not going to make it weird as it’s still a professional contact. But if he is then it’ll be fine which is why I’ve been sending signals. I thought he was sending them but I’m not sure

Thanks. I agree but do you not feel that by my suggesting coffee is a clear indication I’m interested in spending more time together? He didn’t say no, he said “yea we could discuss etc” then later said “let’s keep in touch” we didn’t actually set up the date to meet up. Till now all our conversations have been remote/ zoom.

I think you are just making excuses to just avoid him, you do you however once he gets with another girl you’ll be jealous / upset you never opened up.
