Why are there so many single mothers?

From 50 years ago, we never have seen single mothers... Yes here 2024 + we have so many single parents that it's not even funny...
What's the deal with women having kids with men who are so broken and screwed up? Are women just as screwed up as men? I mean if I was a guy would I want to have a child with a complete crazy woman? No certainly not! So what's the problem? Why so many single moms or parents? Do you just open your legs to who ever or slip you meat stick into any opening given the chance regardless of circumstances? The rate of dead beat dads is also high too! Men too chicken shit to stand up to the plate and take care of his choice!

It's accepted by society now. But there have always been single mothers. In the past it was just hidden. If a girl got pregnant, it was hush hush. She was taken away to a place for "bad girls". Her family made an excuse like she was going to live with relatives. At the home for bad girls, she had her baby. The baby was forcefully taken from her. She never even got to hold it. The baby was put up for adoption without her consent. Then she was told to keep her mouth shut and forget the baby who grew in her womb for nine months.

Well, they NEVER forget it. It was completely devastating to most of them. Find a forum on adoption and read all the stories. Most of those women are no longer with us, but some are.

I suppose we could go back to that. I don't advocate single motherhood. But I sure as hell don't advocate returning to those times when all a mother saw of her baby was the back of the nurse as she walked out the door with her baby - never to be seen again. She couldn't even hold it. Not even for ten seconds to say goodbye. Then she didn't even have time to cry before she was sent home from her "visit to relatives".

I suppose I didn't answer the question. Just talking about the past when there supposedly weren't single mothers. I don't have a solution, but I know how NOT to do it.

Wonderful! A 21 year old telling us what he say 59 years ago. Well this guy who is well over 50 remembers then, and there were many single mothers. I even dated one. And there were plenty of dead beat dads back then, also. Find out the facts before you start bitching about them.

Many men fake a nice guy personality at the beginning of the relationship then once the woman gets pregnant they show their true colors usually because of the stress of parenthood or they just feel like they don't need to put in effort anymore.

When I was in high school there was one girl in my class that got pregnant. She disappeared from school and the next thing I heard she was married. That is what you had to do if you got somebody pregnant. You got married but it was still pretty shameful. Now you see the birth notices in the newspapers and there are plenty of single mothers. In the old days there would be so much shame in it you would never advertise it in the newspaper.

2) Women who define themselves by motherhood
3) breakdown of the nuclear family especially in black communities
4) cycle of poverty that is difficult to escape
5) more kids = more govt support so our tax code encourages this behavior
6) birth control & abortion not available (red states)

It's a combination of two main factors.

Usually both the mom and dad are stupid and irresponsible individuals.

And 2nd sexual promiscurity leads to broken homes by default.

Because at one time being a single mother was considered shameful. We have done away with accountability in women. So women are free to make one bad choice after the next and not be held accountable for it.
