The best and worst thing are the same thing: The level of familiarity with my home culture. While my home culture tends to be intense, it’s normal to me, but requires a lot of explaining/deciding to an outsider. A lot of my mannerisms and habits come from that so the guy wants to ask a million questions, but even then there’s no guarantee he gets me or understands the things I care about or mention to him… Even tender expressions of caring motivated by nothing more than sheer interest in what’s best for him can easily get misconstrued. They go right over his head so he gets defensive or argumentative, which I don’t like.

Dating someone who already knows everything about the community is so much easier. Less explaining — less talking in general — and more loving and quiet, peaceful understanding.

I'm dating outside my race right now. The best thing is how great of a man he is, how compatible we are, how charismatic he is, how great our sex life is, how even the quiet slow moments in the relationship are even perfect.

Well I'm currently dating outside my race as a white guy with an Asian girl. She's incredible! Beautiful, sweet, affectionate, great in bed. I couldn't choose only one 'best' thing about her, and the list could go on.

The worst thing is probably her family--mainly her mom--being really strict. Her mom is such a hard-ass that she would give my girlfriend bare-butt spankings with a belt like a little kid all the way until she was like 13-14. That kind of over the top punishing continued until my girlfriend finally moved out. Her mom likes me at least, but I'm still kind of scared of her.

My wife is from SE Asia and I appreciate her traditional values, very family orientated she is and she's very feminine. There's no negatives but a few things that I've had to adjust to.
