Why do autistic boys like me stay single?

Well, dear, let me start by saying there is nothing wrong with being autistic. It is part of who you are.

Now, we all know there is a spectrum of autism. Depending on where you are on the spectrum, you are able to function in society. Some are able to land relationships, others not so much.
At your age, that is if you are really 15, people are not thinking about reproduction. Dating isn’t taken seriously at that age. Dating is kind of for fun, even though it shouldn’t be. lol

You may find someone in school who may fancy you regardless of your autism.

Now, as you get older, the thought of marriage and settling down comes in. If someone marries and has children with an autistic person, they are more than likely going to have a child with autism. Even if they don’t have an autistic child, their children may have a child that is autistic. With an autistic child comes more responsibility for a parent. More than that of having a normal child. So, I think it is important for people to consider that before going steady with someone on the spectrum. I would be surprised if no one did.

There is a new trend online where women are talking about wanting an autistic man. I think it is a stupid trend. Nothing wrong with getting with an autistic person. There will be a problem when the child she bares is autistic and is wayyyyyy on the other side of the spectrum. It is a hard hit or miss with autism. You never know which side you will get. If you don’t have the means and funds to support such a child…this is so sad to say, but don’t reproduce.

Now, I think people can date autistic people, but in this economy where everyone is freaking broke…reconsider producing with one. The child will need a lot more care and love than other children.

Some people just don’t get that.

Because girls need a good personality to go along with looks. Autistic people don't typically have charismatic and confident personalities, which girls want. You need to find the rare girl that likes shy guys that lack confidence. Or go find another autistic girl your age. All while working on your charisma and confidence.

I suggest you make friends with as many girls as possible and learn about them and watch what kinds of guys they go after. You have a ton of time to learn. And trust me, there is zero rush to get into sex. You aren't missing anything special, and you're too young to deal with the negatives that come with it.

I have a lot of my friends who are on the spectrum and they all aren’t single. They got girlfriends / boyfriends at the ages of 18-25.

My advice: You have your whole life ahead of you to be worrying about this ‘romance stuff’, you’ll make a girl absolutely happy to have you & to keep you happy.
Just wait patiently and the moment will come.
