What does it mean if a man smells his beard and then his fingers?

My boyfriend phone in the middle of the FaceTime, 5:30pm we both was falling asleep laying in bed because he stay 2 hrs away but I couldn’t reach him for 2 1/2 hours. I called him 15 times and his location pinged away from his home like 10 mins away frm his house some condo but when his phone hung up it just stopped at that location but he said he was home sleep we both have IPhones and I did just get a new # and when I asked him about it he blacked on me And I end up apologizing cause imma a little damaged so I was like I’m tripping because I don’t want to think of him or treating him like my toxic ex he said I was comparing him to my ex but he didn’t pick until 1am after our fight and said he was in a better mood the next day. We were somewhat OK but I still feel something is off and he goes to smell his beard and then he smells his hands a couple times and I don’t know if it’s just common cause he do this a lot but more after he eat it cause he said he love my scent am I tripping y'all What could that mean?
