the formula is, "divide the older person's age by half, add 7." that's the youngest you can date.

the problem with age gaps is that people fear that the older person probably has the know-how to manipulate the younger, more inexperienced person, is defenseless against it, and that the older person would take advantage of this, not because they're a bad person per se, but simply because they could. it's like if your car can go 80 even though the speed limit is 65... you're gonna go 80 here and there..

if the younger person has their own support group (family, friends, whatever) outside of the relationship with the older person, who they can get perspective from and things like that; and if the older person is actually a good person (i don't mean they strive to be a good person, i mean they actually maintain character/integrity in the heat of the moment/when faced with emotionally-charged situations, e. g, they keep calm instead of getting angry, they take time to explain things and take time to understand the other person's point of view, etc.) then i think the relationship would actually be quite ideal.

i mean, people in relationships should be like that anyway, regardless of age.

I wouldn't think so. Even on the old standard of adulthood (21) she is an adult. 10% of marriages have a 10+ year age gap by the way.

I did see a headline referring to a 19 yo girl, who made very bad choices, as a teen. There seems to be an effort to infantalize adult women.

I've done it, and it was a mistake. I was in my career, had my own house, two cars, etc. She was in college and lived on campus. We didn't have much in common at all. Her dad hated me because he knew I was defiling his daughter. The immaturity came out sooner than later. Great body though.

Nope. A 21 you have all the same legal rights and responsibilities that a 30 year old has. You can go all the same places and do all the same things without any awkward hangups.

It’s not weird at all. Everyone is different if it isn’t right for you it may be for someone else. Find whose right for you. Dating is about seeing who you’re compatible with.
