I normally date people my age or older, but I met this guy at a friend’s party. We hit it off and he asked me out, but he is 28 and I am 38. Is this too much of an age gap or too weird for me to accept his invitation and go out with him?
3.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Only you can decide that , it’s your life and your choice and your decision , no one else can decide that for you. Me personally doesn’t hold age as a deciding factor when I meet a beautiful girl that I am attracted to , Her age doesn’t determine the chemistry and connection between us. I only draw the line if she is under legal age of consent , but other than that I don’t care if her and I have a huge age gap. I have dated younger girls’ that treated me better than girls’ my age or older , so that’s why age doesn’t really matter to me. So if he makes you smile and you find him attractive and you enjoy talking to him , That’s all that matters , don’t listen to hypocritical peoples’ opinions when it comes to who you like and are attracted to. Most people like to rub their 2 cents together when they clearly don’t know shit , about your connection and chemistry with someone you like and are attracted to. All that should matter is the both of you are choosing each other

1 yIt’s not weird at all what matters is building a genuine connection. People will judge you no matter what some people would say a man dating someone younger is predatory…. So people judge no matter what.
If you’re both happy and it’s a healthy relationship that’s what matters. Many people end up dating outside their “type” because well after some time their type never works out. I see it a lot where people say “the person he/she married was not their type at all” well…. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.
Wish you the best. See where it goes either it will work out or it won’t.

1 yAbsolutely nothing wrong with going out with him and enjoying yourselves.
The only hangup here might be a long-term future. The age difference could come into play if you two became serious and he wanted to have children with you. Your age right now isn't important. I had my first child at 39 with no problems.
But if you wait too long, might be dabbling with genetic issues that don't come up if he were with a 28 year old.
Take what you're doing as it comes and realize this might be Mr. Right Now. But if it looks like something else, accept it and have serious talks about what you two want as a couple with a future!.. Good Luck...10 Reply
It’s generally not the best idea to date someone significantly older or younger than you, but sometimes it just happens that you like each other and meet someone with a bigger age gap than you’d normally consider. I’m in this boat now. I’m 36 and he’s 29. He chased me from the get go and talked me around to becoming his girlfriend. So I think if you're in that situation, go for it. That’s what I’m doing. My age gap is similar to yours. You’re only a few years older than me, which makes us close to the same age.

1 yAge doesn't matter. I've said it so many times on this app/website, I've lost count. As long as it's not a prepubescent kid, as long as there's mutual attraction and consent, love doesn't discriminate.
However, you do have to take into account whether the guy wants kids or not, since you're 38.23 Reply- 1 y
Egg quality diminishes with health issues, not age, and the claim that women are born with all the eggs they will ever have was debunked some time ago. There are women in their 60s that have given birth to healthy babies.

1 yIf you just want good dick or a good semen sample, it all makes sense. Now if you're considering a long term relationship... what you going to do when you have orangutan tiddies swinging around and he's still getting hit on by girls that shit all over your seductive abilities? You gonna keep him with your great personality? Just keep it real with yourself about it being what it is.

1 yI think it's going to be too much of an age gap for a serious lifelong commitment. But when I was 29 I dated a 42-year-old woman. It lasted for a while but eventually we were at different places in our lives and went our own ways.
She regularly said that she knew that I would want to have kids and she couldn't do that since she already had them so she was worried that I would leave. But we still cared for each other very much.
Even though I later moved to the other side of the country where I'm originally from, we kept in touch for many decades.
Although I haven't been directly in touch with her for a few years, I have been in touch occasionally with her daughter and always ask about how her mom is.
She is 83 now! Hard for me to imagine.
I suspect it's fine for a fling but that would be careful about giving my heart away because the chances of longer term are slim.
00 Reply 590 opinions shared on Dating topic. I’m dealing with a younger man right now myself (7 year age difference between us) and he’s pretty mature for his age. I’ve noticed that many younger men are mature for their age. Anyway, if you guys like each other and his maturity is to your liking, why not? 😊

Omg, don’t have a cow. 😂. The man in question was in his late twenties. I wouldn’t even LOOK at someone romantically who was in their mid to late teens or even early twenties. Now, that’s all I have to say about this matter. I don’t owe you ANY further explanation. Go argue with a wall. Don’t like what I have to say or still think I’m a “hypocrite?” Not my problem, my dear. Build a bridge and get the FUCK over it. Take care. 😘✌🏾
2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. The older I get the less I care about that stuff. I'm 37 now and single. I'd be open to someone in their mid 20s to 40s if we could make it work. I think it's weirder when we're younger. Life is too short not to explore our options and what makes us happy.

1 yNo! In fact, I've dated women 10 years older than me. My maximum is 10 years older or 10 years younger. Anything beyond that is a no go. There will be some exceptions, but that's my limit.
The question isn't is the age difference a deal breaker. The question is, DO YOU LIKE HIM? DO YOU LOVE HIM?
This is YOUR life. This is YOUR prerogative. This is YOUR opinion. Do not allow anyone to dictate how... YOU want to date.
I say again; ARE YOU interested? Don't do a second guess. Answer it to yourself without overthinking it.
Simple.

1 yThe 28 yr old fell in love with the 38 yr old so, it is up to both of them to make that relationship work. When you love someone, you’ll stop at nothing to make it work and if it doesn’t work then it is simply over.
To me, I’m happy to be with my girlfriend so can’t image marrying someone with a 10 yr age gap personally, though as long as they are responsible consenting adults in love then they must do what they must even if I find it weird personally.

1 yThese age gaps can range from several years to several decades. It's also not unusual off-screen. A 2022 Ipsos poll found that nearly 40% of Americans have engaged in age-gap dating, with men more likely to be the ones dating a younger partner.

1 yWhen we're younger, a ten-year age gap is a major issue. But as we get older, a ten-year gap becomes less and less important. 28-38? I would say if the 28-year-old is very mature, it could work.
10 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. Im 27 and would gladly date someone your age and not even stop to think about it being a big gap
If you’re youthful you’re young. That’s how aging really works
We control the tempo not the other way around10 ReplyYou're both adults. If you want to screw around that's up to you guys. As something causal it's not norm, but it happens often enough for older women to sleep with younger guys. When it comes to serious relationships, typically a guys not going to commit to a women moving into her 40s if he ever wants to have kids due to menopause approaching, but there are guys that sleep around with women a little older than them that they party with at bars and shit like that.

I'd say 1 in 20 guys I've known in my life has gone through some sort of causal fling with some older women anywhere from 5-15 years older than him. I only know one guy that married an older women and she was only 5 years older than him. He was like 25 at the time and she was 30. That said, he wasn't the most stable individual. His brother was in and out of jail most of his life, he was raised by a single mom, and he told stories of screwing around with girls when he was like 7 years old which lead me to believe he might have been sexually abused. Last I heard he was a drug sales rep and got busted for dealing oxycotin on the side. So who knows if they are still together.

1 yThat doesn't strike me as weird at all. I had a friend get married to a woman 10 years older than him over the pandemic.
Admittedly, the couple was a rather strange one that no one at the wedding had any idea what to think of, but they got married none the less.

1 yI don't see the problem I mean if you both like each other than other people's opinion should not matter. Sometimes you can find love and understanding at any age. Not to mention I'm sure the sex must be amazing because you both have the best qualities for that.
10 ReplyIn my humble opinion it is not weird at all as long as the individual that you met is of legal age and you are feeling sparks for that person.
More often than none we as human beings over think stuff. Just keep in mind that life is extremely short and do not waste another second over analyzing what the universe purposely brought into your life.10 Reply
1 yIf she finds him attractive, no. Difference between friend and boy friend is sexual attraction. Guys if you want to know what your looks lvl is at pay attention to how women treat you. Cold rude and repulsed = ugly, indifferent friendly = average, excited gleefully touchy feely = good looking. Its not rocket science

1 yIt's a bit weird, yeah, but there's nothing wrong with it. 'Weird' really just means outside the norm, and for women to date men significantly younger than them is still very much outside the norm.
That being said, people fall in love outside the norm every day, and end up happy. If you really hit it off, why the hell would you waste that because of somebody's idea of "weird"?00 Reply

Not necessarily. You could have an immature 38 year old and a 25 year old with more life experience under their belt than most 50 year olds.

30 and 20 yes, 50 and 40 not so much.
Its more about the maturity level.
00 ReplyI have dated women a lot older than a ten year gap. You see that you women charge too much date time before sex. Older women make up time quick to save date time.
