Yep it’s common, but personally I barely know or meet anyone who does that here. Most people I know date people around their age. There’s just the occasional big age gap couples I meet, but not very common.
Some older men like the idea of younger women with the youthful looks or personality, but it’s also because they lack more experience and don’t know what they want that much. So it’s easier for them to take lead or attract her. I think most women in their 30s/40s wouldn’t wanna those type of guys anyways since they would want someone who matches them better in maturity, life stages, stability in different areas, and know what they want. I think most guys who thinks the same way shared the same values in similar age groups for 30s/40s.

Absolutely, middle age men will date teenage girls and women in their 20s! Even if they are 60. I often chat with men on #1ChatAvenue. I have learn not to reply to women on the site because the women that contacted me are lesbians and I'm not into to that.

Although my dating range is 18 to 22, I will chat with guys of any age provided they are not crude and/or don't call me names. If it weren't stigmatized I'd wager most 40 yo men would happily date a 20yo woman. I tend to think there is an ingrained attraction to women in their prime and this attraction rarely fades over time, but men simply accept that is inappropriate to pursue women so much younger than themselves.

In the end there are many things which might encourage or inhibit an older man's attraction to younger women.

Before hating on me, think about compatibility. It isn't likely that a 19 year old college freshman is comparable with someone who's been comfortably working in their profession for many years. They're probably incompatible because they share so few life experiences.

The 19yo needs those experiences to grow and mature. The older will be more of a parent than equal partner.
