What are some hobbies that turn you off in the opposite sex?

I usually don’t look at other answers prior to answering a question, but I can't help but notice that most of the answers are related to poor behavior, not hobbies. Cheating, or openly flirting when you are with them is not a hobby, neither are drug use, or alcohol abuse or fighting, considered hobbies.
For me, excessive video game playing or grown men watching cartoons all day are huge turnoffs!
My brother used to isolate himself in his room and both watch cartoons, and play video games for literally tens of hours at a time… Then, somehow, he got laid, and I don’t think I ever saw him locked away in his room playing video games, and likely masturbating to Japanese anime again!
I have a huge Snap-On Tool box that was supposed to be my brother's, but because he didn't want to help dad restore a Porsche 356a, because he wanted to play his stupid games and jerk off to porn and anime more! When I went through a highly traumatic thing at 13, a family therapist recommended a daddy/daughter project. That was restoring a vintage rare Jeep CJ together. I LOVED that Jeep so much, my dad bought me a Jeep (that was less prone to roll over during a sharp turn). We restored it together, and my dad gave me the toolbox and tools that he bought for my brother, who would rather sit and play games all day! I also got a factory new condition Jeep with an LS engine, and the experience of building that Jeep, and the engine! He not only missed out on the experience, he likely missed out on building his own car, and receiving tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools and the toolbox, because of those games and cartoons. So I have experience with being disappointed at the behavior of a male because of cartoons and video games.
I don’t think playing video games is detrimental per se, but I do think the obsessive daily playing of video games causes people, especially men, (who vastly outnumber women when it comes to amount of time played) to miss out on real life and real world experience, in favor of community with other men in the artificial fantasy world of the games!
So even though I would not like it if my fiancé were to spend hours a day in the gym, the health benefits of doing that at least would give him some real world benefits! Spending hours a day online would likely cause detrimental health effects, and loss of real world confidence and social skills. That, along with the accompanying overweight condition that tends to go with self-imposed isolation and lack of activity would be a huge turnoff for me!
I hope this helps.

@exitseven I’m sorry sweetie, you added spaces so the link didn't work, when I removed the spaces it took me to a 404 error. So I put the URL into DuckDuckGo, and the first few hits were timing lights. So I’ll assume that’s what you meant. Yes, I used one to set the timing on that Jeep (not mine) the one I helped him to finish the restoration with my dad. So Yeah, to display my knowledge, the red clamp goes on the positive terminal, the black to ground, and the induction clamp goes on the #1 spark plug cable (technically they are not called wires). Then you shine the strobe on to the harmonic balancer (HB) which is connected to the crank shaft, and turn the distributor until the line on the HB lines up with the angle gauge thats welded or riveted to the block, to the correct degree of BTDC (before top dead center) or ATDC (which is after TDC). Also, yes I have one. I don’t know why, I don’t have a distributor on either of my Jeeps. But I do have one. I also have the specialty tool to adjust carburetors, including all the different bits, the different types of carburetors. despite neither of my Jeeps having carburetors! I have a LOT of specialty tools. The next time I'm at my parents I'll swing by my dad's warehouse and take a picture of it, to show you. I literally need a step ladder to open, close, and look in the top of the top box.

@exitseven I will add that mine is not chrome, it’s red (and old) I think my dad bought a lot of new stuff and filled my toolbox with his older stuff, keeping the new stuff for himself. Not everything, not even most things, but some of it is definitely his older stuff. One of my favorites is my SnapOn Borescope! It’s a amazing tiny fiberoptic camera that can enter the oil fill hole in the valve cover, and actually go through and open valve and give me the ability to examine the interior of a cylinder to examine the piston, the cylinder walls (for scoring), and check the valves for carbon build-up! Oh and a cool tool you screw into the spark plug hole, and connect an air hose, to check that the valve seats are not leaking! I got some really cool stuff! But the one I use the most is my ECM Scan-Tool. I use that all the time, especially to turn off, sorry I mean reset my Oil-Change light
@exitseven Yeah, I doubt I’ll ever use mine again. But dad wanted to teach me how to use each and every one! So at least I can say “Yeah, I did that once”.
@exitseven Which one? I mentioned a few tools.
@exitseven Yeah, it’s really cool, and there are SO many uses for it. I mean yeah I can see into a cylinder, but what about getting a look behind your car stereo without taking it out? Maybe you just need to see if you have a spare video input, or look down an A/C vent to see what that “rattle” is that you hear coming from the vent. It’s an amazing tool. But I have to be honest I use it more to make sure my ears are clean and free from excess ear wax! LOL 😂 🤣
@CrazyGirl2 I could use that myself. My ears are going crazy lately. I think i have some kind of weird rash going on. They get really itchy.
@exitseven LOL, I found a cheap one for iPhone here: www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_1_sspa?th=1
Here’s one for Android phones: www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_1_sspa?
@exitseven Good luck w/ your ears. If this doesn't work, I highly recommend you see an ENT (ear nose and throat) specialist.
Again, good luck w/ your ears.
Laura 🤗 🥰
@exitseven Well I wish you the very best of luck, that your doctor fixes your itching issue, and that he/she finds nothing else wrong with you!
Best wishes, for a clean bill of health.
Laura 🤗 🥰
If they…
@BetaBucks I have nothing against martial arts but I don’t trust dating someone whos into stuff like boxing and ufc fighting. I just know too many abusers. Now say if it was like jiu jitsu, taekwondo or karate OR if he watched wwe. Thats not a problem for me as a lot of my exes have done those and wwe is just for entertainment purposes. But a lot of dudes into boxing or ufc have showed me their crazy.
“ I have nothing against martial arts but I don’t trust dating someone whos into stuff like boxing and ufc fighting. I just know too many abusers. ”
You are way off. Extremely off. I’ve trained in MMA for years and that is 110% inaccurate.
Guys who train boxing/MMA are actually generally much more mellow outside of the gym. Reason being is they get all the their aggression and anger out in a safe place. It’s very good for them mentally. It’s an healthy outlet.
The guys who never do that at all have no such outlet.
Now there are unfortunately a few exceptions to the rule (e. g. war machine, Phil baroni, etc.). But those guys were violent dbags to begin. They are also the ones you read about

It goes without saying that criminal activities, drugs, or alcoholism are dealbreakers.
I don't mean this in a harsh way, it's simply my preferences. But any of these hobbies are OK in moderation, really. It is more when it affects daily life negatively or cannot be given up that it's really bad news.
1. Gaming. 'Nuff said.
2. Day trading. No, it's not investing. It's speculating.
3. Obsession with watching or tracking sports (there's a difference between enjoying watching the Superbowl and painting one's house and truck in the team colors... ahem).
4. Hunting or guns. I have done both and have no issue with those as a sport, but some guys disappear for a quarter of the year doing this stuff, if not more. I cannot think of a single hobby women have where a man would be just fine if they took off for that length of time and spent thousands of dollars (sometimes over ten thousand) to fund it. Guys would say shopping or makeup, but I don't know any woman who leaves her family to pursue those things to that extreme. I know many guys who do the other, though.
Honestly, anything that cannot be set aside for the sake of family and real life is a turn off. I have had a number of hobbies that I have been intensely involved in at certain times in my life, but I have set them aside because this isn't the time for it. I'm in a different season. Perhaps one day I'll get back to some of those, but there is a time "for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens..."
Knowing when to let go is part of being a balanced person.
Ya missed the MHO boat again. This was MHO material lol.
I agree with day trading and your take on what it is.
@HawkPerception Thanks! I had a lot on my plate this week and couldn't engage much. :(
1. Chasing other women… that’s a big hobby that turns me off….
2. Gym rat to an extreme is also a turnoff. I like an athletic build, but I don’t need a Mr. Universe body builder type guy.
3. Gratuitous arguing/fighting/sparring. I get it, boys will be boys, but when it smacks of excessive aggression I fold.
Other than those, honestly if a guy is into collecting or gaming or swimming or fishing or other stuff that calms him down, I’m good.
Deer 🦌 hunting and any kind of killing animals.
I dated a guy on and off for 6 years and every October he would grow a beard getting ready for hunting season. The beard was to keep him warm while he was hiding in the bushes in the cold weather with his big ol' shotgun.
When he would tell me he was going hunting, I used to put my hands over my ears and tell him not to talk about it.
He couldn't understand why I was so upset because he was going hunting.
I told him because you are going to kill Bamby's mother and father!!
He wanted to kill them and it made me look at him in a different way. He enjoyed being cruel to animals and I love animals!
Kill happy SOB!
Horse riding / events
Gaming
Social media obsession
Gambling
Neddlecraft
Drinking / Smoking / Drugs
Nite Club obsession
Gym 10 hrs a day
Scrap booking
Workaholic beyond reason.
Thinking about it , anything that becomes super extreme can become an issue , so obsessive behavior in general.
Just on your update , I refer more to gym addiction , I like working out as long as completely drug free.
A male example ( my ex boss ) was a champion Tri athlete , who pushed his beautiful girlfriend into the sport , it was his life , No 3 in Australia at plus 50 age , but dead at 62 , I'd say TRT and the like related plus anti imflamitorys , ( wayyy too many ) , they both are now deceased.
This kind of obsession is very dangerous at any sport.
Not sure what its called but when their pet dies and then they decide to turn it into a stuffed doll or mat etc. Yea, I dont like that.
Gaming without limits or breaks. Im ok with a bit but not to point where your girlfriend doesn't know if you love her anymore..
@luvstoned4him Taxidermy. 😂
@RedInnocent69 oh thats the name.. *shivers* 😆😆
Anime if they take it too far. Like I used to mess around with this girl who had Harry potter figurines and adventure time ones too. And it was almost enough to make me not come back. definitely made me not put any effort in.
Not that if you're into that you should stop necessarily. I'm not into it, but I've known some pretty decent guys who would totally be into that. I'm just not a very fun person I guess 😂
Videogaming and Anime.
Not because I have anything against people who are into those things; I'm just not particularly into those things, and the people who are into them tend to devote lot of time to them.
So basically, any woman I date who was into anime would have this large chunk of her content consumption life dedicated to creative mediums that I simply don't have an interest in consuming with her.
Those who play a lot of video games. Also those who are in to anime. It's almost like a fetish with these people. I like to watch it from time to time but for them it's almost like a kink. I don't understand it. Lol
I'm an active person so a lot of my hobbies are active. It wouldn't be a turn on if someone's hobbies were not physically active, basically.
I would say watching anime if that's their only hobbies and they watch it multiple hours a day. Watching some from time to time is ok but when it become multiple hours a day everyday I think it's a bit much.
For me it's not a hobby, but a lack of any hobbies that turns me off. We're not going to entertain each other 24/7 and having something you're passionate about on your own is a huge indicator of how healthy the relationship will be. If you can't entertain yourself when I'm busy or away that's a huge turn off for me.
Hobbies are hobbies, I’d let my girl have all the fun she wants with no strings attached.
What if it is scrapbooking, couponing, collecting Christmas sweaters, or stamp collecting I wouldn’t care. None are a turn off and I’d be happy for doing what makes her happy.
I don't know. Man bashing. Putting down the natural masculine traits as toxic. All the while sitting under an aircondioner while the laundry runs along with the dishwasher as her friends drive up in their car.
Video games, anything to do with smoking weed or pot, doing drugs, drinking excessively, etc.
I think maybe using the gym as a hobby would be a turn off. I'm all for being healthy and fit but not to the extent of it being a hobby.
Would like to add a lot of people who are like this (at the gym all the time) have eating disorders and deny it. Most people would look at them and just think yeah they're eating healthy and working out. But eating the same thing every single day is disordered eating.
Clubbing, posting on social media and blowing strangers.
For the update, I'm wondering how many of the people that have a problem with the gym are just out of shape themselves, and don't like feeling like there's an obligation to get into shape.
Not referring to the gym freaks, or masculine women topics. Those are understandably a turn off.
Clubbing and/or bar hopping.
Smoking and/or excessive drinking. (More of a vice than a hobby)
Speaking of: lack of hobbies is equally a turn off.
For me someone who stays indoors all the time.
If he is into drugs or feet i can't be with him
Doing TikTok trends, clubbing, and anything related to drugs
It's not a hobby but I don't like gambling. I wouldn't judge her for the thrill of possibly winning but I would judge her for her intelligence to indulge in an activity that is a mathematical certainty to be a loser.
Horse riding. It's only women who do this and I don't know why but it gives me the ick
know of quite a few very masculine men who work on ranches in the American west who would disagree with the “only women” ride horses thing. Not a dis, I’m just sayin’.
@CrazyGirl2 yeah the cowboy thing. I get it. But that doesn't exist in most of Europe tho. I live in Germany. Cowboys aren't a thing here. Horse riding isn't a masculine thing here at all. I understand it is in the USA.
Addict to social media
Taking way too many selfies of only herself
Hiking/biking/climbing
Gaming, tv, gym obsession, being vegan, drugs, and there is probably more
anything extreme, dangerous, or taking too much time...
I hate stuck up guys that go to the gym.
I don’t like guys that go fishing or snowboard surf, just not my thing.
Anything to excess...
I'm not a fan of sport in the background or other tv with cheering but headphones work 🎧
1) alcoholic.
2) too much on social media.
3) being so deep in polemics trying to challenge me always.
Drinking, smoking, partying, social media addiction
Power lifting, greco-roman wrestling,
Posting on gag.
if she is into dope.
Video games
Gambling.
gamer girls, gym rats ( huge turn off )..
working out. smoking. drinking. partying.
Why is working out something that turns you off?
I don't like muscular chicks or chicks with big arms/asses/legs
Most girls that workout aren't super muscular. Those are only the bodybuilder ones.
a lot of them try to get fatter asses, which is disgusting to me
Gossiping
Shopping
Smoking and drinking
