Again, why did they need it for acting purposes instead of just hiring black people? Because blacks weren't seen as decent enough to appear on screen, and they decided to just paint a white actor's face charcoal black. Mind you most black people are not even really "black", at least not in America. More of brown, but since it was used to mock them that didn't matter. It was also often used as a comedy act.

Nope. It had to do more with actor availability in a highly segregated US where minorities did not have access to acting schools. Yes, there was a lot of racial discrimination, but at the same time, you cannot hire what you can't find. Times have changed for the better... Anyways, back to the question. People can be stupid when young and recognize they did wrong later and be forgiven too. If you did it because you thought it would be fun, it shouldn't be catalogued as racist just because most people that did it were being racist. I stand by my point. Thank you
