Is it harder to date a stranger or someone who knows you?

I have the hardest time meeting a girl and I got to thinking. You know, if I had more of a social circle where she could get the 411 on me from some other friend I think it would be better. At the same time, that probably does make things complicates when everyone knows your business. Opinions? I just don't feel like women are comfortable being approached by guys they don't know anymore. So when you're introverted like me it's impossible to date

Yeah man, I feel you. Dating is hard enough, but starting from complete scratch with a total stranger does add another level of difficulty. On the one hand, if a girl already knows you through mutual friends, she at least has a baseline impression of who you are before you even talk.

At the same time, like you mentioned, it can also make things weirder if things don't work out since you're still in the same social circles. And you don't want your business all out there.

My advice would be to try expanding your social circle some if you can. Join a club, intramural sports team, meetup group, anything where you'll see the same people regularly. Then over time girls in that circle will get to know your vibe before you try asking anyone out.

Could also try apps bro, it's basically meeting strangers but with a little context through profiles. Might be less stressful than random approaches if the ice is already somewhat broken.

But don't get too down on yourself either way. Keep working on being comfortable just chatting with anyone, you never know what could come from it. You'll find your way, dude - just keep putting yourself out there bit by bit.

You know most girls that pull the but I don't even know line are girls I meet online. How ironic. Guess it depends on her attitude and outlook on life. Maybe its a blessing in disguise

That is a waste of time. I wouldn’t do that. I was asked out recently (in home town) and just was honest that I’m leaving for school so not going to work.
