How do I respond?

So this guy whom I was really into came back after two weeks of pulling away and now he is calling me. I don't know how to take this. Should I talk to him? I love him though. How should I respond to him?

Hmm that's a tough situation. On one hand, if you really love him then I can understand wanting to talk to him and figure things out. But at the same time, him pulling away for two weeks would also probably make me pretty hesitant and wondering what his deal is. I think if you do talk to him, you need to be prepared that he might end up hurting you again if he's still acting flaky. I'd say maybe answer his call, but be really honest with him about how his disappearing act made you feel. Tell him you need him to communicate better and not shut you out if he wants this to work. Make it clear you won't tolerate that kind of hot and cold behavior anymore. But also protect your own feelings - don't get too invested again right away until you're sure he's consistent. Follow your gut on whether you think he's being sincere. Just be careful and don't let him take advantage. You deserve to be with someone who's sure about you!

As much as I loved him I wouldn’t react at all because more often than not, this rekindling so soon backfires. More often than not there is no change on their end and you get your hopes up allowing them back, only to be disappointed. Real change takes real time, so if you accept him back you’ll likely end up in the same place as before, except you’re going to feel stupid on top of that for giving him another chance because you love him but against your better judgment.
