It all depends what your ultimate intentions are when you date women, not only single mothers.

If it is, as I fear, just to fornicate and then to forget about those women, then yes it is a bad idea because you are misusing them for your sole and unique pleasure. Those women don't get anything from those one night stands because they are aware that they are misused for the copulation only.

I don't think that there are many guys out there that are willing to have a long term commitment with a woman that has children. And when I talk about a long term commitment, I am talking about 30+ years.

More often than not. Generally it denotes a character flaw or she wouldn't be a single mom. Women hate hearing that but it's true.

So I guess it comes down to, do you you want to date a single mom with a character flaw? Or do you want a woman with no kids that you have a 50/50 shot of her having a character flaw.

Depends upon what one means. "Single mom" could mean never married crack addict with four baby daddies and it can mean faithful, wealthy widow of a well-behaved child.
