Let's say your at an event and there are other guys trying to get her and you have short time

I didn't try to get her at all...

I would not keep my eyes off her, though... all evening, like that, and yes, "everyone" did go and tried their luck, I did not... I prefer to observe, to get a better idea of her, and yes, of course she did notice me around

and then, it was just a matter of time... she was the one to approach and to ask me "have we met before?" and then just smiled at me, knowing very well that's just a cliché but it worked so well... lol

we did spent the rest of that night together

but, you asked about having a "short time" there were versions of this, in which you have a lot less time, but if you do have a presence enough, and you get to her circle with the right kind of vibe, and make yourself present alright for her to notice you, make that kind of eye contact but only that... that might be enough to intrigue her, however

if she approaches you, you need a lot more to keep her interest, lol
