There's a post here where a woman is upset that she doesn't talk to her "friend" as often now that her friend is in a relationship. She goes on to say that the guy her friend is dating is a bad person and a sex offender yet has not mentioned an ounce proof. Why be a sore loser? Why not move on? I notice women do this when a guy they like moves on, and they try to sabotage him.

Look, there are a lot of really bitter, vindictive women in this world. But trust me, it's not just women. I know first hand, because I've dealt with it time and time again. From both men and women. This is going to be very long, so if you don't have time to read it all or don't really care enough to, just scroll down to the last paragraph.

Let me start with the biggest mean girl of my life. And no, this wasn't in High School and we weren't 17. This was a couple years ago at work and I was around 24-25 and she was around 33-34. So, there was this one girl (not to be confused with woman) who used to be my Supervisor. We started out as friends, sort of, but once she became my Supervisor, she didn't need to hide her disdain for me, anymore, behind a false friendship. Eventually, she just didn't like me for whatever reason. Back when she worked there, she was attached to the hip by another female supervisor (who was two steps above her, in the ranking) who had influence. Especially over the administration. In fact, this supervisor was just a step below the administration. So one day, I had enough of the poor treatment from her, so I stood up for myself. This girl complained about me to her "Master" and because of that, I was written up for insubordination, I was essentially demoted and I was treated differently by all the supervisors and the administration. I've been told by the administration, I was demoted because I was not good at what did, I got overwhelmed and everybody complained amout me. Later, I found out the complaint she told them was that no one can understand me (I have a voice disorder which they all knew about), so instead, they gaslit me into believing no one liked me and how I sucked, when I didn't. She ended up getting termed because her attitude escalated a situation causing people to get badly injured, so due to liability purposes, they finally got rid of her. A few months later, one of my friends who used to work with us told me she ran into the mean girl at Walmart and that girl told my friend, the reason I was demoted was because I was sleeping with our 67+ year old supervisor. Mind you, this girl had been gone for over 6 months, at this time. It was a rumor I heard in the past. I tried to let it die down and for awhile it seemed like it was working. But when she was termed, she kept throwing dirt on my name to people even outside of the workplace.

I have had 2 other rumors which I know of regarding me sleeping with my coworkers. One of the coworkers was an ex-guyfriend who had a crush on me. Several of our mutual friends asked me if I liked him. I told them no. One friend said he stopped pursuing me which turned out to be untrue. We'll talk about that later. There was also a man who was almost 40 and had been married for 10 years and people who don't even know me or don't really know me and have never tried to really know me started rumors that I was sleeping with him, too. So one of those rumors could have gotten me fired. Another one of those rumors could have broken up a marriage could have gotten him or me badly hurt, if his wife heard about those rumors.

Now, here's where I start on the boys (not to be confused with men). This situation especially sucked because two out of three of these rumors started because of how people witnessed those boys speak about me when I wasn't in the room. For example, the boy who was over 67 and my Supervisor told people, "Abby's my workplace crush" and "I saw Abby was wearing that sexy black dress that I like (on Social Media)." He didn't say the Social Media part, but it's very important. The ex-guyfriend who had a crush on me told people, "Abby's quiet, but she has a wild side." He would also tell other guys at the company how I'm off limits. My ex-boyfriend didn't really care what he said, so when we started dating, my ex-guyfriend told my boyfriend at the time about the rumors regarding me sleeping with our supervisor in attempt to try to break us up. As for the other guy who was married, I got the idea he had a crush on me. He never said anything (that I know of) but he would constantly talk to me and follow me around. I was always polite (because I was at work), but I had boundaries. When I began sensing he started to like me, I backed off to try to show him I wasn't interested. I would never cheat and I would never try to steal another woman's man. To me, that shows you have zero class and it really exposes how low your esteem really is. And how you'll let people treat you like crap just for an easy lay and because you'll do anything to feel like someone loves you, even if it only lasts for, say, two minutes. I'm sure that's going to be offensive to many, but whatever. I don't care. That ex-boyfriend, by the way, proceeded to cheat on me with his ex-girlfriend who knew we were together. So I'm okay with being disdainful of people who cheat on or cheat with others. Anywho, the way I like to see it is, I'm not the side dish. I'm the main course. And you won'tbe having any side dish with this main course. It's also just disrespectful because you would not be okay if another woman did that to you. So I backed off, like any woman with an ounce of self-respect would do. I stopped talking to him unless it was absolutely necessary for work. But one of my so called friends couldn't help but notice he was showing an interest in me. She asked me how it was going with my new boyfriend. I told her, "What boyfriend?" She said, "The guy you're always with." I assumed she was talking about my ex-guyfriend because I already heard those rumors. I told her, "Those are just rumors." But then she said something about him being white. My ex-guyfriend is not white. So I asked her to describe him and she started describing the married man. I told her, "Oh, we're not dating. Sometimes we speak as coworkers, but we aren't dating or anything." She cut me off and said, "But isn't that weird? Because he's been married for, like, 10 years," and walked away before I could respond. At the time, I wasn't sure if she heard me correctly. I told myself she didn't hear me and wanted to believe it. Now I know, she absolutely heard me. She either just didn't want to believe what I was saying or she knew it wasn't true and she just wanted to keep talking about it with people who don't even know me. Also, when these rumors were initially started, I was a virgin. I had never been in a relationship, yet people wanted to paint me as the Office, fill in the blank. Both girls who actually used to be my "friends" knew I was a virgin and still helped spread, maybe start some of those rumors. Like, the first girl, I was training her at work and she started asking me about my personal life, my relationship status, whatever. I thought she was asking as a friend. She was really just prying into my personal life to find all my strengths and weakness so she could use that information as ammo for whenever she wanted to pull the trigger. Anywho, I told her I've never been in a relationship and never dated anybody. She acted like it was weird and straight up told me it was weird. I didn't really care what she thought. But later, there were two guys who entered the office and the topic of Desperate Housewives came up. That girl said, "Abby doesn't even have a husband." We all just looked at her because that was super random. And then she said, "Abby doesn't date. She doesn't like boys," and smirked at me. She literally went from telling people I have no dating life and was making fun of me for it to telling people how I screw everyone in the room.

So, moral of the story is, some women and some men start and spread rumors to either make themselves look good, to make you look bad, to ruin your career or to break you up. It doesn't matter. They both do it. I don't think all or even many people do it. But I do think the people who do are the loud minority and those people very well make their presence known. Also, don't take it to heart. Don't become that bitter, vindictive "woman" that you despise. Be kind, be forgiving. Don't ever trust them, but show them grace. Because at the end of the day, they do not get to take your happiness away. That is yours to keep. And if no one is going out of their way to speak poorly about you and tear you down, it means you're not winning. And I like to win. Because the one thing that's worse than being talked about, is not being talked about. Just keep your head high and keep being the greatest version of yourself, because, in the long run, those people who literally lose sleep trying to think of ways to tear you down, those people are going to lose. And you're still going to be happy.
