Why is it that with some men when you reject them, they’ll ask to be friends and spend the entire friendship trying to convince you to date them?

Because they hope to change your mind, as you said. It's pathetic, but it is common. Although to be fair you have a lot of women who will reject a guy and offer to be friends with him, but they don't really mean it.

It honestly isn't a lot different when women are attracted to a guy who's already in a relationship but she will still keep a connection with him in the hopes that he'll go over to her.

You make of it exactly as you just said: you won't be friends because it's disrespectful to his relationship. You are aware that you are attracted to him and he is attracted to you too, but you also have enough scruples to know that you should separate yourself from that situation and not be friends. You are aware that you could become weak if you do and end up cheating with him, which you're trying to avoid.

I would NEVER do this unless the woman had led me on. And I wouldn't do this now. Because I don't tolerate these games. But when I was younger I would have told myself that, "I just must not be trying hard enough" . The reality is a lot of women spend thier life honing these manipulative tactics.
