a date is getting to know the other person, there's no real commitment or emotional involvement, it a check to see if you're compatible as a couple, whereas a relationship has evolved beyond a mir date to include commitment to the other person, true feelings for that person and a desire to make that person happy and become exclusive to the relationship. Love for each other develops in relationships.
