How many week before a dance should you ask someone?

My winter dance is coming up. It's in 7 weeks to be exact. a lot of my classmates have asked there dates. I asked the guy I'm taking to the other night and he said yes. I just wanted to make sure I got a date and nobody else asked him but now I'm regretting it cause it's super early.

Also, do you think I could ask him again in a cuter way like making a sign closer to the date or is that weird cause I already asked him over text?
