Yes, some working women do this. The problem is that they tell the man they marry that they will resume working after 2 years of delivery. But their plan is something else, means, they lie as a strategy.

Now I am married to this man, what can he do about it now, other than workin and keep bringing money.

The man married her thinking that he will share the financial burden of marriage with this working woman so that the child can get a good life. Now that man has to work overtime alone to earn money, neither does he get to spend time with his child, and the wife enjoys life and also keeps instigating the child against the father. The threat of false legal cases is also given.

I would think that using an excuse that you're sick would be better than having a child and using that for an excuse

There may be a few who do that but for the most part no, pregnancy is very difficult, and it is a full time thing, your baby doesn't leave you alone after 5 pm.
