How do you date if you don’t find a girl with similar interests?

So the dating field has always confused me are you supposed to date someone with similar interests or does this not matter

If you go to college for medicine, you are going to find girls interested in medicine. If you go to college for art, you are going to find girls interested in art. The same with jobs you take and groups you join.

Join a group or a church or a volunteer organization or whatever you're interested in, and the girls there are going to be interested in whatever that is also. Don't join a mountain climbing club if you're not interested in mountain climbing. You have to work hard to put yourself in a position to meet the kind of girls you want. It also gives you a much greater advantage over other guys in attracting their attention.

Every boyfriend I've ever had has been from the circle of people around me at school or at work or who are friends of my friends or family. Every one has had some sort of connection to something that interests me, and vice-versa.

You find activities that combine both of your interests, and you develop new interests along the way.
Let’s say your interest is Dungeons and Dragons with friends, but she prefers paint and sip parties. Invite her over for wine and painting miniatures.
Find things that neither of you have done and try them out together. Never driven an atv? Save up and rent one for a day and go site seeing.

I know people who date based on shared dietary habits, shared exercise habits, shared vacation habits, or compatible circumstantial exchange: one being good at tasks requiring physical dexterity and the other good at jobs that require abstract mathematical logic. I also know of couples, where a partner is chosen for offering relatable emotional benefits, or for having joint commercial investments in a mutual business.
